To be worried I’m not eating enough

I’ve gained some weight and would love to loose just under a stone to fit back into my clothes comfortably. I’ve been going to the gym and have worked out my calorie intake as 1500 to loose 0.5 pounds a week and 1200 to loose 1.5 pounds. So far I’ve lost 1.5 pounds in the first week but I’m averaging 1096 calories a day as I’m just not that hungry anymore. Also worrying that I’m not eating enough everyday and that I’ll eventually end feeling awful and burnt out and back to square one. At the moment my energy levels are definitely up due to not surviving all on sugar.

I was originally hoping I would be eating around 1200-1500 a day

I think thet lostening to your body's needs is good. Is there any particular reason you are worried you are not eating enough? Do you have a history of going over the top? Otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much. Be aware that sometimes you will be hungrier and don't give up as a result of these times.

In my experience you won't be able to sustain 1100 calories. I accidentally went really low calorie due to not counting the calories and thinking I was healthy. I ended up with heart palpitations and slightly anaemic. I also felt really light headed when I was due. I need to eat as much as I want before my period.

Also the body adjusts its metabolism to calorie intake so your metabolism will just slow down. Much better to stick to the 1200-1500 range.

I don't think 1096 is enough esp as you're heading to gym too!

Could you have something calorie dense and non filling like some cheese to boost cals at the end of the day? Small amount of cheddar and grapes as a snack would easily cover those couple of hundred calories. Some nuts and dried fruit could work too- super calorie dense.

What is your daily protien?

Calorie wise it is pretty low and probably not sustainable long term. There's a lot to be said for only eating when you're hungry however make sure you're eating balanced meals adding extra healthy calories to boost your intake

There is absolutely nothing wrong health wise with an overweight person who wants to lose weight, eating less for a couple of days because they don't feel hungry! Definitely don't force down calorie dense snacks as per pp, unless you want to gain weight of course.

You've lost 1.5 pounds the first week which is good, but as I'm sure you know the first week of a diet always results in the biggest loss. You aren't fading away! Next week you may strugge to lose 1/2 a pound.
