How many school tights does your 4 year old go through?

Alternated between 3 tights since September until one tore this week! I have another pack on hand...

My daughter has 2 polo shirts which are slightly faded....I'm not sure if I should bother replacing or not...

4 cardigans out of which one is getting scruffy...

What about you guys? How many do ur kids have of each and have you had to replace any so far?

Definitely got more than two polo shirts!

Probably 3-4 pairs of tights.

I was going to replace polo shirts then remembered she’ll be in summer dresses soon enough so no point

flyingdream · 01/03/2022 19:59

@ThatsALotOfPassionfruit do you think the tights will last till the end of the year? Also will the polo shirts be decluttered at the end of the year?

I’ve never put a 4 year olds in tights at school, especially not through winter - don’t her little legs get cold?

Mine has 5 shirts, a couple of cardies, couple of jumpers and maybe 4 pairs of trousers.

@busyeatingbiscuits mine wears skirts all year round. It’s a battle to get her to wear tights as she’d rather wear socks, she’s quite hardy Grin

@flyingdream she’ll ditch tights soon enough and go bare legged, probably after Easter so only a few weeks to go

ThatsALotOfPassionfruit · 01/03/2022 20:06

And yes the polos will be chucked at the end of the year, they’ll only be fit for rags by then!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 01/03/2022 20:09

Pack of 5 tights.
4 shirts or polos.
3/4 skirts/pinafores. Maybe a pair of trousers.
3/4cardigans
3/4 depends whether they come singularly or in pairs

The wooly tights are warmer than the thin trousers.

BabyTurtIe · 01/03/2022 20:13

Mine doesn’t wear tights she doesn’t like them and finds them titchy, she wears leggings with dresses/skirts

BabyTurtIe · 01/03/2022 20:14

Titchy 😒 itchy* !!!

OutlookStalking · 01/03/2022 20:14

5 polos - one a day.
6 tights when we did tights - but like pp found socks were better.
2 cardis
3 pinafores.

Replaced white summer socks and polos each year.

ItsSnowJokes · 01/03/2022 20:20

6 polo shirts (only cos they come in packs of 3)
2 pinafore dresses
2 trousers
6 tights
2 cardigans

1 day a week they wear pe kit so only need enough for 4 days. I need another cardigan but she has literally just moved schools mid year and I had already spent £200 on her old school uniform and have now had to spent another £120 on her new school uniform! I got them big though so they should last a lot longer.

flyingdream · 08/03/2022 09:53

@OutlookStalking which cardigans do you get. My reception aged child's cardigan had already faded quite badly and it's been 6 months. Had to replace it. I think its cotton.

We used to get sainsburys ones in a 2 pack but then they had to be school specific. We haven't had fading of cardis. (We have had white polos/white socks go yucky so those I do see as annual purchases and now buy cheap and just replace regularly!)

flyingdream · 08/03/2022 09:55

@Aroundtheworldin80moves does anything last so that it can be used in September?

OP posts:
OutlookStalking · 08/03/2022 09:59

We find pinafores are usually fine in september, and summer dresses often do 2 years. Our cardis are often fine (ever 2 years for the school uniform ones)

OutlookStalking · 08/03/2022 09:59

Similarly at Juniors actual school shirts are fine too. We don't really replace for September but as needed.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 08/03/2022 10:12

Skirts/pinafore in the Teflon material (not jersey) have generally been handed down from DD1 to DD2 as they are in perfect nick. Jersey goes bobbly.
Polo's don't last more than one child. Pale blue fares the best. Red is quite hardy.
Jumpers/cardigans... depends on colour. Navy fades. Red does a bit. Blue doesn't.
Shirts do well if they don't get pen stains
Gingham dresses last well to if they don't get pen or mud or paint stains. Dry quickly too so two are adequate for the summer.

As a military family DDs have attended five schools so I've had a range of uniform!
