Lake Garda - Limone?

Has anyone stayed in limone?
Can you use the ferry to travel to other villages?
I am thinking of booking a trip here for me, DH and DS4 and I am wondering of others experiences and where's best to visit for days?

I'm going to be in Malcesine on the other side of the lake and there are ferries to and from there and Limone. Up to the top of the lake and the bottom too, but from my reading it can take about 2.5 hours down to Sirmione.

I looked there as well it looks beautiful, when are you travelling? Have you been before, if not what attracted you to the area? Sorry 101 questions but haven't been abroad for so long and I'm not a sit on the beach for 7 days sort of girl, so wanted somewhere with beautiful scenery but also quite relaxed still.

I stayed in Riva and went to Malcescine, Limone, Sermione and Torbole by boat. Stunning places, can't wait to go back

Have stayed in sirmione, pecheria and lasize. All beautiful resorts around the south east part of the lake

Lake Garda is beautiful. It's very easy to get to the other resorts on the ferry and you can also visit Verona which isn't that far away.

@Greenvelvet1, I fancied a gentle week in Italy and got a good deal from Jet2. I'm going in early June, might swim if it's not too perishing, potter about using ferries, go for a day to Verona. I'd like to hire a bike too, to get around some of the nearby villages. I hear good things about the gelato too.

Limone gets very very busy in the summer and it is a small town. The restaurants also get full quickly. I stayed in Riva and took the ferry across for the day. It is beautiful and definitely worth a visit but personally felt it too claustrophobic for a week long holiday. Also note that apart from the lake front all the hotels and houses are on a steep incline. I loved lake Garda and if I had one holiday left in my lifetime that is were I would go.

Lazise is really beautiful too and accessible to lots of others towns by bus or boat.

Also close to the train station if you fancy Verona (lovely) or Venice (overrated).

Lots of nice restaurants in Lazise.

Just noticed you were asking for places to go. Well, if you base in Limone then a ferry trip to RIva, Malceseni and Torbolo are all options. Also if you get to Riva there are lots of places that hire bikes and a safe bike ride along a cycle path to a lovely town called Arco. Sit outside drinking Aperol in the sun with an amazing background. From Riva if you like walking there is a well known trek up the side of the lake called the ponale. If its a warm day go early, there is a little roof top bar on the way up for a cold beer. Also in Riva an old castle you can easily walk up to in half hour and there is a bar at the top.

I have stayed in Limone and you can get the ferry across the lake to different towns and when travelling to Limone from the Airport when the lake first comes into view it's the most stunning view I have ever seen !

Thank you, we are going in August and have found a beautiful lake side hotel, just outside limone for an amazing price, so where hoping to use it as a base to see other places around here. Thank you everyone for the tips, can't wait for an aperol spritz!

Completely agree with this! It's my most favourite place.

We always spend our last night in Verona. Would really recommend this.
