I have two - Co-op (due to their manager in my local store selectively targeting only certain people about what were essential items in their shopping during Covid.

And Asda as their supermarket online delivery customer service line is really bad.

I boycott:
Local branch of Holland and Barrett because one of their staff asked if I needed help, then when I said no said “are you sure? Let me know if you can’t reach anything.” - I use a wheelchair - then followed me round the store - every time I moved, she moved

I was boycotting our local argos because when I said “thats mine” when they called the number out they handed it to a woman waiting at the other end of the counter then claimed they thought she was my carer. But it’s been years and that branch has moved so I might use it again.

And I’m boycotting AO because when the delivery guys put my new dryer in place the front immediately fell off revealing a huge hole - it had clearly been dropped. They rang customer services and said it was fit only for scrap then passed me the phone. Customer services tried to convince me to accept it.

Barclays for the absolutely disgusting way they treated me as a student when I had a loan with them. I had it in writing they would pay my loan into my account on a certain date and they simply didn’t.

It took weeks to resolve and to finally get the money they had confirmed they would give to me - every time I phoned no one could help Hmm. I thought I was going to loose my home.

They did eventually admit they were in the wrong and gave me a token gesture which did absolutely nothing to make up for the stress and panic they had caused.

Never forgiven that.

Also Spoons because of the owner and Ryanair for the same reason.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 28/02/2022 20:09

Ryanair because of its idiot boss
Lush because their wokeness is ridiculous
Tesco because they think everyone is a shoplifter and were appaulingly careless at the start of the pandemic

JimmyDurham · 28/02/2022 20:10

Oak Furnitureland. We bought a chest-of-drawers. Nothing fancy. They tried a hard sell for "insurance" (for a chest-of drawers??????) and wax polish (@ 3 times the price in our local hardware shop) and I had to sign 4 separate pieces of paper before I could have it - that's 3 more than I had to sign to buy the house it was going into! The worst "retail experience" of my life. Never again.

IggyAce · 28/02/2022 20:30

The rock shop on the corner just over the bridge in Whitby, I was screamed at by the owner when I tried to enter with dc in a pushchair. Apparently no pushchairs allowed I’d failed to see the note on the door because it was already open.

I won’t use the Tesco petrol station near me because the staff are just awful.

Blackandwhitehorse · 28/02/2022 20:53

Similar to others and for same reasons

Lush - for selling breast binders
Wetherspoons (if friends don’t drag me in) - Brexit/the owner
Ryanair - sneaky with their hidden costs and £££ for any booking amendments, Easy Jet are better
Oately - gender ideology nonsense

There are probably more. Lush have lost a lot of money from me.

Companies just need to sell us stuff not bash customers over the head with their politics.

That’s terrible about Sainsbury’s and the cat food

MadisonAvenue · 28/02/2022 20:54

Asda. - my mother was attacked by another customer and the staff did nothing - just said they ‘weren’t allowed’ to get involved

I was threatened and very loudly verbally abused by another customer for several minutes at the till in Asda some years ago and the staff did absolutely nothing to help. It wasn’t as though they didn’t know, the whole till area fell silent.

I don’t think it’s there now but there was a gift shop on the harbour side in Padstow which I vowed never to go into again when we holidayed in the area every year for 12 years.
I took my son in when he was younger, he had a blood condition which caused him to be jaundiced on occasions and people would ‘helpfully’ point it out which made him very self conscious. Anyway, as we left the shop I turned back to see two assistants watching from the window, with the one who’d served us pointing at my son.

Currys

New Look.. many years ago I was in London. Bought a dress from the flagship store during my shopping trip.

Got back home and decided I didn't like it so I returned it to my local store. An absolute snotty cow held it up in front of a massive queue of customers, sniffed the armpits and accused me of having worn it.

I absolutely hadn't worn it - it was totally unflattering. Humiliating experience.

I did complain to head office and got my money back. Never set foot in one of their shops since.

PossiblyDreaming · 28/02/2022 22:13

@Elliemayclampett I had a similar experience with New Look. I bought a pair of shoes from them about a decade ago. I’d tried them on in the shop but had somehow managed to pick up two left shoes - one in my size 7 and the other in a size 4. I realised as soon as I got home and popped straight back to swap the size 4 for a size 7 right shoe. The woman was adamant that I’d worn them and went as far as to sniff them in from of a queue of people 😳. Then declared that she couldn’t take them back as they couldn’t resell them in “that state”. Not only could I not have physically worn them as my big plates of meat would never squeeze into a 4 but they also had 2 right shoes that they couldn’t sell either!

Wouldlovetobeinthesun · 28/02/2022 22:21

Pret. Haven't bought from them in nearly 12 years because their (cheaper) label price was never the same as the till price. They refused to honour it saying they hadn't had time to update the till. This happened over a period of a couple of years so I decided I wouldn't buy from them again.

betwixtlives · 28/02/2022 22:30

Asda. for being unreliable lying cunts

ALongHardWinter · 28/02/2022 23:06

I never use Boots chemist if I can possibly avoid it. Their pharmacy service is crap, and I've had several unpleasant experiences with rude staff in there. I also won't ever go in The Body Shop. The staff are in your face the instant you set foot in there. And if you say you're just looking, they keep hovering, making 'helpful' suggestions. Drives me mad.

CourtRand · 01/03/2022 00:22

Oasis. I worked there as a 16yearold in 2013 and my manager was a bully. I was good at my job but she'd make my 'uniform' a cocktail dress (very short) and high heels - at a concession in Debenhams. I felt a twat and she'd yell at me for everything. Even standing by the window in the fitting room when the AC was broken.

She'd pester and dig at me and was so mean. I would cry on the way to work. Once came in despite being very I'll (threw up at the bus stop and on the way in) out of fear she'd report me to head office. I only got to leave because the regional manager came in and I was literally green.

She also told me it was my fault a ring box smashed my foot black for wearing open toed shoes... THAT SHED MADE ME WEAR.

I'd never shop there again the bitch. And HO didn't listen to me because I was just the Saturday girl.

CourtRand · 01/03/2022 00:23

@Apple40

We no longer use a cafe within a well know local department store as they have put all there prices up by quite a bit e.g scones were £2 each now £3 each clearly to re coup money lost during lock downs. It’s gone from being really busy and struggling to get a table to only a handful of people in it .
Sorry but they have every right to put prices up to stay afloat
SisterRuth · 01/03/2022 01:01

Body Shop as aforesaid. Anywhere that doesn't have female only toilets, changing rooms etc.

NeverGoingBackOrAmI · 01/03/2022 01:03

Scottish Power were so rude to me 20 years ago, blatantly lied to my face, knowingly overcharged me, ignored their own check meter results telling them of the overcharge - I’d rather pay more elsewhere.

The Celtic Sheepskin company for not caring that their expensive ‘organic cotton tees’ run in the wash.

NeverGoingBackOrAmI · 01/03/2022 01:09

Monarch Airlines for not caring that everyone else had eaten hours ago and my vegetarian breakfast didn’t make an appearance until the Manchester tarmac was in sight. Bastards.

dolphinsden · 01/03/2022 01:10

@bruffin

Barclays, absolutely awful every time I had anything to do with them
Same.
dolphinsden · 01/03/2022 01:36

Louis Vuitton. I saved and saved to get DH a birthday present which was a wallet and went to the store in London. There was no queues and I was heavily pregnant and needing to use the loo very often literally struggling to walk. I can see the wallet in sight, loads of shop assistants walking past me and ignoring me. Stopped one and said I wanted to purchase this wallet and they took out some tablet and said I need to make an appointment. Again there were shop assistants walking about doing nothing until a group walks in with no appointment and no name asked and immediately all the shop assistants attend to this group (most likely a regular). So obviously my wallet purchase seemed insignificant compared to what this group was purchasing. So I just left and went to Gucci opposite instead and purchased a pair of trainers which DH still adores and wears.

My DH got an inheritance and since then, he has been buying me expensive handbags on our anniversary each year and when he asks which brand, I refuse anything from LV.

Ladybird69 · 01/03/2022 01:56

I’m about to boycott Sainsbury’s. I’ve stayed with them my whole life, 3 generations of my family have worked there and felt proud to. Had a mix up with my online order 3 weeks ago, customer care phone line keeps dropping out! Then they say store will contact me! Try to ring store and it takes you around the houses but you can’t actually speak to anyone. Meanwhile they still have a lot of my money. Terrible customer services. When they used to be fantastic.

WorriedMillie · 01/03/2022 06:46

Petplan insurance, over the way a staff member spoke to me after the death of my horse, she was vile. This was 20 years ago, I won’t use them again. It just shows how damaging poor customer service can be!

Ducksareruiningmypatio · 01/03/2022 07:39

Body shop, lush and M&S for the previously mentioned bullshit reasons.
M&S Doubley so for the ridiculous sparks card.
Asda for selling me mouldy bakery food, I went back and the whole shelf had white fur on it, I pointed it out, had to pop back in that evening and it was all still there Angry
Various local restaurants for upping prices and reducing quality. (I get they have to survive, but when you were previously busy and now your not, maybe it's because people don't appreciate being taken for granted)
Tony and guy for only being capable of one type of haircut no matter what you request.
I have loads, I have low tolerance for shit service, I nearly always report great service though.

MinnieMountain · 01/03/2022 07:40

Our local Prezzo. When our starters finally arrived, mine was frozen in the middle. Then DH found a shaving of metal on his pizza. They seemed to be more concerned about their takeaway orders.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/03/2022 08:08

What is the problem with Crew Clothing returns? I buy a lot from them online and have always returned without an issue.
