What does your ideal average weekend look like?

DP has recently gotten a new job that he has worked and waited very hard for. However, it is very full on both physically and mentally. He works long hours and is knackered when he comes home and I’ll be honest, I’m finding it a little hard. I feel like I don’t see him anymore so I’m trying to best utilise the time we have together from Friday evening - Sunday night. I’ve been trying to find a balance between doing things and not tiring ourselves out for the work week and struggling to plan it.

So, what does your perfect average weekend look like? I’m not talking about if you had lots of money or special occasions. Just on your average week! Thanks in advance guys as I’m going to use this as inspo! Smile

OK this is my idea of a nice (ideal) NORMAL weekend:

Out on a Friday night - party with friends or theatre with dinner beforehand with DH.

Sat morning: DH takes DC to sporting things, ideally do some exercise myself and make a veg soup and buy a nice loaf of bread for lunch.

Sat afternoon: family dog walk, then light the fire

Sat night: takeaway and glass of wine or two

Sun morning: lie in (til 8!), exercise, cook a really nice roast to be eaten later eg 2.30pm. Eat lunch, read papers. Do spot of gardening, walk the dog, light the fire, watch telly.

I think it's nice to get the socialising in at the beginning so you have the rest of the weekend to catch up.

DH likes to watch films (I don't), so he is always appreciative when I make the effort (ha!) to watch one with him. He also likes going out and doing things at the weekend (I don't, I honestly would love to sit in the house and knit all day), again I make the effort to do what he likes from time to time, I suppose a bit of give and take there!

So, a film night or a long walk somewhere new. Classic, if a little boring.

We had a really nice "normal weekend" this weekend.

Yesterday I took the DC to my parents (DH was working) we played playdough, watched star wars and got a chinese takeaway. My DBro and his girlfriend were there too.

Today DH took the DC to the playground in the morning while I tidied, then I took DS1 swimming (DS2 still naps) in the afternoon and got crepes on the way home. DH made roast chicken for dinner and now the DC are watching cartoons before bed.

This weekend has been a good one for us; DD1 had a birthday party on Saturday so she had a chance to play with her friends and I got to catch up with friends. Then today I took both kids to a museum while DH went for a bike ride. Ideally I’d have had time to fit in some exercise myself, but so long as we all get out of the house and do something fun, that feels like a good weekend to me.

This is our normal weekend. Friday and Saturday night we watch a film and take it in turns to choose. On Saturday we’ll do something like go to the cinema, Top golf, NT property. On Sunday we’ll drive to the coast, have lunch out and go for a walk. We’ll have a takeaway one or two evenings. On Sunday evenings we’ll have our own separate evenings.
