Help - emetophobia

bendmeoverbackwards · 27/02/2022 18:46

Been out for tapas this evening and ordered some chicken skewers. I had one very small bite then saw the chicken was a bit pink. Not properly raw just a bit pink. I sent it back and they brought me a new properly cooked one.

What are the chances of me getting ill? So anxious ☹️

@Mossstitch

I am absolutely fascinated that you are able to work in A&E. I imagine almost constant vomit there (although I have been a few times for the kids over the years and to be honest I have never seen anyone be sick but it must happen very regularly?)

Respect that you for that! Just goes to prove us emetophobes come in lots of different variations.

@Lipsandlashes you’re taking absolute shite, what a load of nonsense. My emetophobia affects my ability to look after my kids as I am petrified of seeing or hearing someone else throws up. Not all of us experience it in the same way, so please do not post if you genuinely do not have a clue what you’re about.

@Crunchymum it is fascinating how there seems to be variations isn't it. My phobia is definitely about ME being sick, therefore, i can kind of cope if it's somebody else being sick and there is a clinical reason that is not contagious, as in fractures, UTIs. I'm a therapist, not a nurse, so frequently it's is pain or painkillers that are making people sick when we see them and we are usually in pairs so i can escape for a cardboard bowl and leave the patient safely with my colleague. Now if its norovirus...... That's a different story I'm going nowhere near......... I've picked it up twice in nearly 20 years😭

Why? Because I questioned why someone with a phobia of vomit/vomiting would eat chicken in an unfamiliar place (restaurant)? I’m afraid of spiders so I wouldn’t go to Australia.

ImInStealthMode · 01/03/2022 19:03

@Lipsandlashes Yet a great number of arachnophobes manage to LIVE in Australia! Fancy that Confused

Ps.. OP never said the restaurant was unfamiliar to her. For all we know she's been eating there for decades without issue, so feels she can trust them. HTH.
