She's 70 and never had any issues before, she's up to date with her mammograms, but I'm so scared.
Anybody have any experience?

I’m so sorry to hear this has happened to your Mum. I’ve just also been told I have breast cancer and am still trying to get my head around it. Must be so hard for you when it’s your lovely Mum. Sending positive thoughts to you both. X

My mum works in breast care and she does mammograms. She sees a lot of breast cancer and said the vast majority of women have a positive outcome from their treatment.

I was diagnosed in 2019 with a similar size lump that hadn't spread to the nodes so I "only" needed Radiotherapy & surgery.

Two years after finishing treatment I feel pretty good and the treatment wasn't as bad as I expected and now I am on Tamoxifen and annual mammograms.

Love to your mum and I hope it all goes well.

I'm blessed to have had the positive outcome & I had great care x

What a nasty shock for your Mum and you. But it's been caught early and while it's still small so the prognosis is very good.

I was diagnosed with early breast cancer just over 2 years ago. A total bolt from the blue. I was only 49, no family history of BC and very nearly didn't bother going for the mammogram because the parking is so dreadful at the hospital.

But thank God I did. They initially thought the tumor was 8mm, but it was actually only 1.7mm and it hadn't spread anywhere. Two weeks later I had a therapeutic breast reduction and lift on the affected breaat because I was a big cup size (34G) so a lumpectomy would have left me with a deformed looking boob.

2 months later I had a course of radiotherapy which was tedious, as had to attend the hospital 5 days in a row. There was residual pain for nearly a year afterwards because of the RT. Since then I have been on Tamoxifen and get yearly mammograms. I've just had my 2nd all-clear!

And, best of all next week, I'm finally getting cosmetic surgery on my other boob to make them symmetrical, at last. I've spent the last 2 years with one very perky 34D boob and one decidedly unperky 34G boob. Nightmare!
