A rant about waste :(

Previous threads about the same person if anyone wants to read.

My tenant moved out after I was granted possession in court.

She has left everything feasible from what I can tell.

What annoys me is the sheer disrespect for things, more so even than for me!

Lots of toys left :( . They're not in the best condition having been in a mucky house (it wasn't mucky when I let it to them)! outdoor toys, ride on cars, a lot of cuddly toys, three high chairs but they look a bit grubby, three beds two singles one double, but they're very obviously used. I mean I doubt anyone would be able to have them as everything is obviously used-but then I think about how many children have nothing and families who struggle and it makes me feel livid. :(

Other things, four chairs, nothing wrong with them, a new large lamp still in wrapper but a shade smashed on it, an iphone with a cracked screen, three television sets...A large fridge, a freezer, a newish washing machine (with contents)!

I just can't imagine thinking It's okay, aside from leaving it for me to get rid of, but to just not bother about all that expense, and the children missing their things?

Do you know how expensive storage is? I don't think it's fair to call it waste. I doubt she wanted to be evicted. Most temporary housing is small and won't allow you to bring furniture

Sexybexi · 26/02/2022 01:10

Maybe she didn't have the money to hire a van to remove it. Rents are high especially in the private sector. I hope they manage to find a tenancy they can maintain. I genuinely think landlords need to support tenants more.

WildPoinsettia · 26/02/2022 01:19

If you've had to evict her I imagine she could be homeless so nowhere to take it to. Even if in homeless emergency accommodation it may be a room not a whole flat. Also known people leave everything behind because cleaning, it packing it, cost of packing materials, cost of moving it all, is more than the cost of going out and replacing the bare essentials with new clean stuff. It's really not unusual.

Sorry if this is a drip feed, I didnt think to include as I have on previous threads, which was silly of me.

She most definitely isn't homeless. She moved out months ago to her new place, but refused to give me my keys back.
She has caused a LOT of damage to the property-but this wasn't a thread about what she's left me with, more so my non-comprehension of just being able to leave so many belongings behind.

I offered to pay for her a van more than once, and she said she was fine financially just didn't have time to go and collect her things. She has UC and works (confirmed the former by the council).

I may sounds like 'one of those' landlords, but I really am not :(
This will cost me £1000s in damage repairs, but I didn't want the thread to be about that :)

If you know where she is I would load it all up and dump it at her new place

That’s got to be cheaper than you getting rid of it all

She was evicted for non-payment of rent (for over 6 months as she kept telling me she had paid it or would pay it, and council confirmed her UC was fine)and was meant to be out by the 8th of January, but at this point she already hadn't lived in my house for months, just had kept her things in it (and kept my keys). Again sorry for drip feed, I didn't want to start another thread about me being upset at her misgivings. Just this attitude toward her belongings upset me. I'll link my previous threads if it helps (and anyone wants to read them) :)
