A lot of people don't seem to know how much energy they actually use per year. but if you do would you share for comparison?
Family of 2 adults and 2 teens, lots of gaming and computer use, both adults WFH. We have a semi-detached 1930s bungalow with gas central heating (combi boiler) a gas hob and all our water for showers is heated by gas. We have an electric oven, tumble dryer, large fridge freezer plus extra freezer and lots of gadgets!

Annual usage is approx
Gas 11,000 kwh
Elec 6,500 kwh

Elec 14 000 kwh
gas. 9 000 kwh

2 adults, 4 bed detached, fish pond and hot tub

My bill says:
Electric - 859kwh
Gas - 10279 Kwh.

Not sure why my electricity is so much lower than average.

14887kWh gas usage and 4204kWh electricity usage per year

Just above average by the look of it, 2 adults, retired in a 1930s detached house

Interestquestion · 09/07/2022 17:46

No gas or oil - just electric and 4500 kwh a year.

Around 12,000 electric and 6,000 gas. Electric cooker and gas CH and HW (quite low usage for the size of our family on heat and hot water as we're very frugal with it). 2 adults and 3 teens.

Just looking back at this as I was calculating a prediction of annual costs, as our fix ends just in time for the new price cap in October.
I'm not sure which figures I was using to get the ones above as I have it elsewhere at 5,500 electric and 8,000 gas. I'm going to have to go back over all the bills and check again!

3 bed semi 1930s.
2 of us one wfh, one NHS long day shifts so home 3/4 days a week. We are careful with energy and heating is only on a few hours a day in winter at 18/19 degrees. Not overnight. Smart meter and usage is pretty similar throughout the years. We’ve just come out of fix. Aim to reduce gas a bit.

2021
electricity 1400
gas 12500

Realised I'd already posted in February! It was 1300 and 6800 so come down in five months. I'd only started seriously looking at our usage in January so that gives me hope for this winter!

BuwchGochGota · 30/07/2022 17:47

2 adults, 3 teens living in a semi detached house. Only electric, there's no mains gas here and we don't use oil or solid fuel.

Last year we used 9500 kWh of electricity.

Summerholidays204949393 · 30/07/2022 17:50

Gas 7700kwh

Elec 4000kwh

GiantKitten · 30/07/2022 21:14

From most recent bill

Elec: 2746
Gas: 15069

Gas CH, 2 adults in 3-bed mid terrace, somebody home most of the time, plus occasional visits from adult children.

We had a new Vaillant combi boiler fitted in April and it seems hugely more efficient than previous one (a Worcester Bosch that was about 10 years old and always needed the pressure topping up) so I’m hoping our winter usage won’t be quite as hideously more expensive as I’d feared.
