My in-laws went to this company and had nothing but good words to say about them and the whole design process/experience. Their kitchen looks so lovely, I've linked you to their site ^^

We went to an indepent kitchen studio. Our issue was space so we needed a company being able to sell us more than the bog-standard units.

We also had to re-do the room fully, new walls, ceiling, floor. We wanted one company doing it all, I didn't fancy being project manager and sorting out deliveries and time tables with lots of companies/builders.

In a way it comes all to what your budget is. Our way is more expensive some say as you can't shop for the best price for work. On the other hand it saved lots of headaches when it wasn't us who had to reschedule people when a problem was discovered with the flooring.

We went with a recommended independent company. Looked at a couple of chain kitchen companies, the designs weren’t anywhere near as good nor were the cupboards. Had the kitchen seven years and it’s lovely, looks and feels as good as when first fitted

We went to Howden's. Our kitchen is of a fantastic quality and not flat pack. You have to be a trader, but they let my husband sign up as one as he was doing the work.

MiniCooperLover · 25/02/2022 12:26

We went to Benchmarx, very happy with it and slightly better value than Howdens but very similar 👍

skippy67 · 25/02/2022 14:02

We visited a local independent company, Benchmarx, and Howdens. In the end we went with DIY kitchens and we're delighted with our new kitchen.

NannyGythaOgg · 25/02/2022 14:11

DIY kitchens all the way.

As all, or most anyway, of their cabinets come in 5mm increments it is possible to have a pretty bespoke kitchen for an off the shelf price.

Their cabinets come ready made and are much sturdier than the Howdens ones I looked at - and cheaper.

caranations · 25/02/2022 14:12

Ours is from Wren and we really like it. Heard good things about Howdens too, but I think that they are trade only so your kitchen fitter orders it.

Wickes - well, we asked them to come round and quote, but after them cancelling twice on us, we were unimpressed and gave up.

Go to local independent trader best by far and cheaper

HelloCanYouHearMe · 25/02/2022 15:01

I can tell you where not to go, and that is Wickes.

Still trying to sort out their shoddy workmanship 2 years on

Sillybilli · 25/02/2022 15:28

Anywhere but wickes, absolute shower of shit

Fizzbo · 25/02/2022 15:40

We had a Wickes kitchen in our last house and DH fitted another 2 years ago in our current house. He fitted a Wickes kitchen for my daughter last summer and all are very high quality. Friends of ours have just had a Wickes kitchen too and are very pleased with it. I think the key point is perhaps not to use Wickes fitters?

IKEA - 11 yrs old, designed and fitted by me. Starting to think about door respraying. Still love it.

emmathedilemma · 25/02/2022 16:09

mine was from homebase and it's at least 11 years old and wearing well. I did buy fairly top of the range appliances but the cabinets and worktops were nothing fancy. I chose them because at the time (I don't know if it's still the case) you could sit down with the designer and play around with ideas. Other companies i went to did the design offline then got stroppy when you asked to change bits of it! It definitely got a better end product as I moved things around and have a funny shaped room which some of them really struggled to handle. One "designer" was planning to leave me with a 10mm gap in the base units!

Thank you for the tips
