Should I buy a "new" sofa?

When I say new I mean new to me, it would be second hand.

When I moved into my flat I bought a leather sofa so I could wipe DDog's muddy paw prints off and brush her fur off it easily. I soon realised that it was great for her but not for me. It is comfy but cold when it's cold and I stick to it when hot. It's always had throws over it which I can chuck in the wash when needs be.

My gorgeous girl passed away last year. Last weekend I realised - as I pulled the throw back into place for the zillionth time - that I bought the sofa for her not me. And - while comfy - it really annoys me that I have to "make the sofa" each time I sit on it. And, the throws make it look like student digs rather than a grown up's home. I decided it was time to replace it and have been looking on ebay and FB marketplace and have found one I like for £100.

The thing is - £100 is a lot of money to me and with prices of everything rising it feels extravagant to spend this when I have a perfectly functional sofa already. So, do I spend the money (which I have saved in my piggy bank!) or stick with the one I have? WWYD?

PS - if I do get a new sofa I will get a charity shop to take my current one so it will be recycled and not go to waste.

Of course you should. Life is too short to be uncomfortable and miserable.

Go for it! My boyfriend has a leather sofa and I hate the coldness of it. And my legs stick to it in summer.

PS: Sorry about your gorgeous girl. x

Yes, you should, but before you hand over your money, make sure the sofa doesn't smell. Second hand soft furnishings can be really gross.

Go for it!
You could put your current sofa on marketplace too, to make a bit of the cost back.

Thank you Green, I miss her terribly. And thanks everyone for encouraging my extravagance!

The sofa I was watching has been sold Sad. But it's definitely the right decision. I took the sofa covers off today as they were annoying me but put them straight back on - the leather was cold through my pjs clothes!

I time, maybe you could get another gorgeous girl to keep you company on the safe. But in time. Wishing you all the best.

Sofa! Sorry I don't have my reading glasses on!
