Presents for 12 year old boys?

Silly question but what is general etiquette if 12 year old has been invited to cinema outing for someone’s birthday. Are presents the norm? I’m used to either parties for much younger kids or get togethers where we know family/kids well (so would buy them). I don’t want to send son with a present if that will be seriously uncool (!) but also happy to get something if the norm. And if so - any ideas for generic presents? DS will not be great for ideas - he can never think of anything himself. DS struggling a bit with social anxiety at mo, so don’t want to get things wrong.

£10 in a card

We tend to do money in a card over the age of about 11, it's usually appreciated!

Gaming money card. I was totally against this a year ago but I've since realised 1) its what they reeaally want! 2) there is no consumer/waste guilt involved as it creates zero waste and zero carbon footprint, 3) the patents geta few weeks off being pestered for vbucks/similar. Win, win, win

Money in a card.

I buy them a PlayStation/Xbox/Apple store or Amazon gift card rather than cash. Obviously you’d need to know which they use. You can get them at any supermarket and everyone can get something on Amazon.

Money or an Amazon voucher.

Absolutely money. Easiest thing for you and it'll be just what they want. Win win!
