14yr old DD will not change clothing. Same every day after school. Tracksuit bottoms and old top. Going to party and has nothing to wear. Traipsing around shops all day and nothing suits. What can I do

Try internet shopping?

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 24/02/2022 16:20

Shops seem to stop selling kids clothes about this age. I had problems as well. I had to go online.

Andreastepper · 24/02/2022 17:54

There is NOTHING that suits her online. I give up

Is your DD looking online, or just you?

And is the party for her to go to with friends, or a family thing?

I would be tempted to tell her to find something online without any input from you so at least save you some time!

What shops are you looking at? Posters may have some other suggestions.

What do her friends wear? I have a similar problem with 13 year old ds. He only wants to wear joggers and hoodies. I do manage to force him into jeans and smarter sweatshirts for going out anywhere with me or Dh. But it’s a battle!!

Andreastepper · 24/02/2022 21:36

I looked online because she wouldn’t. The party is a sleepover at friends. I asked what they wear and “I don’t know”. It’ll end up her not going.

What does she want to wear at the party? If it's tracksuit bottoms and a top, then what's the issue?

labyrinthlaziness · 24/02/2022 21:45

Let her be, what is wrong with track suit bottoms?

reluctantbrit · 24/02/2022 21:47

Plain decent black leggings and a new top? I found that is quite the informal uniform for DD meeting friends unless it is a bigger party.

Alternatively jeggings, bit more Jeans-like but softer and stretchier.

DD has a couple of dressier items but they are really more for going for dinner (she likes to dress up for those) or a proper party. For lounging with friends in front of the TV and a sleepover, they all opt for comfort.

Not your problem.
Let teenager decide what she wants and let her communicate that.
