Long weekend in Bath

We are off to Bath on a Friday until a Monday with another couple.
Staying in an Airbnb in Henrietta Street.
None of us have been before so looking for recommendations for:

Activities/must see/do/sightseeing - the only thing we don't want is theatre - one of the party doesn't fancy it

A nice place for breakfast/brunch - nothing fancy necessarily

Restaurant recommendations - we have a steak lover who isn't very adventurous so nothing too 'fine dining/taster menu' type
We quite fancy Italian one night and a steak place or traditional English/nice pub food another night
We don't mind it being a little more pricey than usual if it's worth it

We'll have a long drive, arriving early evening on the Friday so we'd like a takeaway recommendation - fish and chips would do!

Any help with any or all of this would appreciated

Roman Baths amazing to look round; new spa is totally separate (Thermae Bath Spa) - v good, rooftop pool amazing, bring your cossie but you can hire towels etc.

Do big walk out from Henrietta St. up Great Pulteney St up to the Holburne Museum, back round Laura Place to Pulteney Bridge (bridge with shops and cafes on bridge itself) & Pulteney weir. Then go to area round Abbey, Pump Rooms, Baths. Abbey Green area nice to look round. Walk up through the town to the Circus & along Brock St to the Royal Crescent. Above that us St James' Square & Lansdown Crscent which is well worth seeing.

Cafes: Rosario's, Boston Tea Party in Alfred Street, Green Bird in Margaret's Bldgs

Italian: Bosco in Milsom Place

Mid range good: Cote in Milsom Place

Foodie pubs with good steaks: Marlborough Tavern, Chequers

Lots of eateries around Kingsmead Square & Sawclose by the theatre inc fab tapas place where you queue for a table called Pinxo.

Lots of lovely little alleys to wander round. Bring your walking shoes. Enjoy!!

Another recommendation for Corkage and the Beckford Bottle Shop . Also the Holborne Museum is worth a visit

Yes to these 3! Not Sally Lunn's. American Museum shut till March.

Also recommend 'The Scallop Shell'; best fish and chips - ever. However, their menu changes daily according to what's best and there's always a good selection of shellfish too. Martini in George Street is a real 'Italian'; perhaps a bit old school but none the worse for that! Good pub food and real ale can be sourced at 'The Raven'. All above 3 recommendations are very central.

Don't bother with the Thermae Spa it is packed and a bit grim. Book into the spa at The Gainsborough Hotel instead - gorgeous!

Wild Cafe on Queen Street for breakfast pancakes; small but cosy.

My recommendation is not to take a car into Central Bath unless your accommodation has private parking. There's a hellish one way system with bus gates. Pay and display is extortionate and there's also a clean air zone. Use the park and rides or come in by train to Bath Spa Station.

(I live just outside the city and I always use public transport).

Thermae spa is not at all grim in my opinion - it’s the only spa I’ve been to that I’ve actually liked. The rooftop pool is lovely and I love the large downstairs pool area just to swim around in. It’s a lovely place to be and I’d def recommend it - nice to include lunch as well if you can.

Another recommendation for Joya for dinner. Their hot stone steak is to die for and puddings were great too. Tiny place, but great atmosphere.

The clean air zone doesn't apply to private cars. That's assuming the op isn't driving a van.

Joya is fab
Claytons kitchen
Same - same but different
Swoon for an ice cream
Hall and Woodhouse....nice roof terrace for a drink if weather is fine

Look up Footprints - free walking tours ...lots of fun and facts etc gives you an overview of city.
We enjoyed the Thermae Spa ..wasn't busy when we went and the sky was so blue it was lovely .
We tend to just wander...turn up streets ..see what we find etc

I did a free walking tour run by volunteers. Think it's run by council. Was really interesting.
