Anyone else love Mark Lanegan like I do? His music has meant so much to me over years and and I’m gutted that he’s passed away, that I’ll never get to witness him live on stage again. Sad

Such a sad loss. I’m from the part of Ireland where he has lived for the past few years & often dreamed of running into him! Have seen him live in Dublin a few years back & very glad to have now. Loved his autobiography. His version of Cherry Tree is my favourite Christmas song/hymn!

Would that be Killarney? I’ve heard he was a really decent chap too, those who’ve met him. I loved his autobiography too, it was a painful read at times though. And last week I’d just ordered the book published before Christmas about his covid battle last year…
I saw him with Duke Garwood in London a few years ago, and with QOTSA, blimey, must have been so long ago now! Think my favourite is Blues Funeral, been playing that all day, and on the school run DS (10) pipes up ‘that guy sounds wrecked’.

Yes, in County Kerry in the South West of Ireland. I think he found it a good base as much if his fan base was European…

That is such sad news.

So sad. Love his voice…

I first discovered him via the Isobel Campbell collaboration but saw him around 20 times after that in various cities in the UK and Europe.

The acoustic tours post Isobel and pre- Blues Funeral were astonishing. Just him and a solo acoustic guitarist in venues like Koko , Camden which are usually quite noisy but the audience were as quiet as at a classical concert.

@KimikosNightmare I loved the collaboration with Isobel, and thought it was a shame they had a falling out after it all.
20 times, wow!
I saw him at the Union Chapel, an acoustic set just made for a venue like that.

Yes, so very sad. I have been a fan for 30 years and I’ve seen him many times, with Screaming Trees, QOTSA, Isobel Campbell and solo. I think that him and Chris Cornell were the best singers to come out of Seattle in the 1990s. On stage he was so intense as well. I think the last time I saw him, it was probably halfway into the gig before he spoke. A massive talent, and a real shock because I suppose I had him pegged as a survivor type that would go on and on after everything he went through and survived.

This has been a slow burn sinking in over the last week, to be honest. Maybe initially because it was hard to believe he lasted so long at all. I've been listening to Mark for decades - despite it all, he's always been there and I will miss that voice so much. I'm not sure they make them like him anymore.

I loved Chris Cornell more, but something about his death has never seemed real. I have never grieved him, oddly. But there's a real sense of loss in my gut over this.

I found a video of an awards show he sang at back in lockdown and it was so strange I'd almost forgotten what we went through. So sad.
