Ten year old still wetting the bed

Full on flooding of the bed.

He wears pyjama pants, bed mats on the bed but it still I need to change bedding every day.

He drinks little before bed, we've tried lifting him. Nothing seems to work.

The GP says wait until he's 12 before we do anything.

Is there anything else I can do meanwhile?

He doesn't want to go on sleepovers because of it.

Don’t wait. Tell your GP that you need a referral to a consultant paediatric urologist asap. It’s not just the physical issues ( not least, how are you going to lift an increasingly bigger child - some 12 year olds are bigger than their mums!) but also your DCs emotional and psychological well being at stake . I’m thinking sleepovers/ school visits/ years of interrupted sleep. It’s not an uncommon problem and there are solutions.

And average age at referral is about 6/7! 12 is ridiculous.

Try a bed wetting alarm as it helped both of my children within a couple of weeks - really good!!!

DD was referred by the GP to clinic when she was about 10. Was loaned a bed alarm and given medication. She didn't like the alarm because it was so loud, and didn't want to take the medication! But after that appointment she started wetting less and within a short time was completely dry and has been ever since!

I can empathise as DS is 9 and still isn't completely dry at night (although he is getting better). Our GP took it seriously from age 8. Go back and ask to see a different GP, perhaps one that has an interest in paediatrics or urology.
Have you had a look at ERIC.org.uk? They have lots of useful information about bedwetting, treatments etc.

That's ridiculous. There's no way k could have lifted DS when he was 10 Confused it's having an impact on his life, needs re-assessment.

A friend has had success with an alarm for her 9 year old.

Does he help change and wash the bedding?
