Where can I get rid of unwanted running magazines and books?

I have loads of running magazines plus a couple of books on running. Any ideas where I could get rid of them? Seems a shame to just dispose of them and charity shops here don't take magazines. Ideally I'd like them to go to someone who is interested in running, maybe starting out. Anyone here want them?? Grin I'm having a really good declutter...

Could you ask a local running club if they would want them? Or maybe a secondary school that teaches GCSE PE. I gave my gardening magazines to the town allotment association.

That's a good idea, may try that.

Or… If you live in a place with reasonable footfall and it’s dry weather, leave them on your wall with a note saying Free. I’ve done that for books I’ve read. People seem to like it. They always go.

Is there a local Parkrun fb group or similar?

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 22/02/2022 20:02

I live in a block of flats, and used to leave magazines by the communal doors until the housing association put up a notice asking people not to do this as it's a fire risk! Shame as it was a great place, heaps of people coming and going. Will look into local running club or Parkrun - thanks.

Recycling bin? Decoupage? Bunny poo tray?

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 22/02/2022 21:35

Not arty, no pets! Trying to get them to someone who will enjoy them as much as I did ages ago.

Your local library? I’ve given some of my books to them.

Olio app?

You could sell them as a bundle on eBay.
Ask at your local leisure centre to put them in the cafe/reception as perhaps people there who are sporty might be interested?

Maybe doctor's offices would take them? All right maybe donate them to a preschool or an elementary school where kids might use them to do collages and stuff. My daughter used to love to do that kind of stuff when she was little.

put them in the recycling. there really isn't enough content in old magazines that someone will want to read.
