What is this saying I am thinking of?

It describes when you have a tough introduction to something (IE a new job)

Similar to "thrown in at the deep end" but mentions fire?

It's been bugging me for ages and no-one seems to know what I am talking about?

Trial by fire?

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 22/02/2022 13:09

I can only think of, Out of the frying pan in to the fire? But I don't think that fits your example, unless they left an already stressful job.

Crunchymum · 22/02/2022 13:10

I think It's baptism of fire I am thinking of.

Although still doesn't sound quite right.

Thanks

Could it be 'trial of fire' instead of batism?

LBF2020 · 22/02/2022 13:21

Was it 'Running a gauntlet of fire' ? Or running the gauntlet

The fire part relates to the firing of guns I believe.

Could be running the gauntlet of fire.

It's either that or baptism of fire.
