Rimless toilets?!

Posting for traffic really.

Usually post in DIY but want your thoughts:

Are rimless toilets really the next 'thing' in bathrooms?! I don't get it.

We have four of them. They’re great. Specifically we have the Rak resort mini.

ThatsNotMyGolem · 21/02/2022 09:17

Surely there'd be shite n piss everywhere.

Georgeskitchen · 21/02/2022 09:18

Didn't know they existed!!

My parents have one and I find it uncomfortable to sit on - no idea if that is typical.

Chestofdraws · 21/02/2022 09:19

It’s the inside rim that’s missing, not the top and you still have a toilet seat. We have one, it’s much easier to clean, as there is no inner rim.

Playplayaway · 21/02/2022 09:21

Oooh no I don't like that. I get a certain satisfaction from squirting loo cleaner under the rim.

BluTangClan · 21/02/2022 09:31

We got a rimless wallhung toilet recently (Grohe).
Thought it would be Teutonic-ly efficient. Nothing to do with it being rimless, but the actual area at the bottom of your pan that your business goes through is narrower than the old one, which means it's more easily blocked if you jettison a larger than average load.
These are things you don't realise when you buy everything online. You need to test these things with half a pound of Dundee cake before you buy them.

We have them. They are so much easier to keep clean... especially when you have a DH who sprays shit everywhere!

LittleEsme · 21/02/2022 09:46

Ahhhhh I get it. Not actually missing the 'seat to flip down and protect all women and girls from poor aiming men' but the actual ceramic rim that allows for a full flush?!

Got it! Some pics are deceiving. I assumed I'd be having to divorce DH in favour of a toilet.

Yes that’s right, it’s the inner rim that’s missing so you don’t end up with caked on snit under there, the top is normal and you have a toilet seat as usual.
Belekker · 21/02/2022 10:05

We have a Rak one and I hate it. When you flush it sprays its contents all over the inside of the lid. Also seems to collect more scale below the water line than any other toilet I've previously had! Angry

fortunenookie · 21/02/2022 10:10

@BluTangClan

Or should that be AlanWink

TeaAndStrumpets · 21/02/2022 10:20

So does the flush come in at just one spot? I've seen them on an American home improvement show as a Good Thing, but I notice American loos have a higher water level when they are flushed. I am confused, but OP many thanks for an excellent Monday morning discussion!

Btw will keep a Dundee cake in reserve for loo shopping Grin

LittleEsme · 21/02/2022 10:22

@Chestofdraws caked on snit?! Is this a new term?Grin

LittleEsme · 21/02/2022 10:26

Thanks Tea.
I shall not culturally appropriate your Dundee cake however. I'll opt for the very dense and dark Bara Brith from Wales as my tester.

I'm not convinced with this rimless thing tbh. I may stick with the traditional loos. We've dabled with fashionable and DD's turds constantly block it up to the point that we have a poo-stick that sits dutifully behind our shed. It's used regularly

OP posts:
Wallywobbles · 21/02/2022 12:12

We have a hanging rimmed Grohe loo and it's rare that any poo sticks. It's a GOOD loo.
