Have I left it too late?

I’m in a mid/senior managerial role in finance- I’ve managed to get this far with accumulating lots of experience in short term etc. But now I need to have completed CIMA to move on to the next (director) level..I’ll be 41 this year and for some reason I feel I’ve left it too late and that I’ve missed the boat..any advice?

Lord no! I think experience (life & job) comes with age. I started my current career at 30. I’ve just been put forward for director, and I’m still about 5-10 years younger than my peers! Your age is perfect, you have enough time to complete your CIMA. Do it! 😄

@FeckTheMagicDragon thank you! I know it s sily but I’m really struggling with this thought if oh that boat has sailed…I need to give myself a kick up my bottom!!

I understand, I was in my mid 20s when I started my degree and felt it was too late, but did it anyway. How long will it take you to complete your CIMA?

But 41 is so young! It'd be seriously depressing if it was too late to achieve anything at that age - what would you do for the rest of your working life?

Crack on.

@formalineadeline i don’t know why I feel this way.. well I do in a way when we got married my husband had this thing about how we were running out of time- so we were focussed on buying a house, saving, career progression etc..that sort of stayed with me about how I don’t have time..I have now told him to stop trying to make me run to his speed etc but the thought just stuck to me…
I need to shake it off…I feel ancient..

I'm 55, still loving life to the full, still travelling, still working hard. We moved countries with my job when I was 51, bought a new house, took tests to get a US driving license & eventually got (converted from visa) our green card. It was a new adventure! I felt older when I was 25 with 2 young kids and doing my degree! Your feeling is a state of mind, which you can deal with. Everything you have experienced, good or bad, makes you the person you are today. I wouldn't change that as I think I'm doing OK :)

I've learned to enjoy both life in the present, and look forward to the future. If you are always looking forward you miss so much of what's happening today. in 3 years time you will still be 44. Do you want to be 44 and doing what you are doing now, or get your CIMA and have an option to be promoted?

Thank you @FeckTheMagicDragon! I really needed to hear that from someone- thank you again. I’m going to work on resetting my mindset snd getting CIMA done
