Can someone help please? I believe I need to pay £80 per year for Microsoft Word/Excel, etc - which is what I have been doing by way if a payment coming out of my Bank Account. However, a couple of friends so that I shouldn’t need to pay…? I’m confused 😐

We pay for ours- but have a subscription that allows multiple devices to use it- so it covers the whole house.

I dont know if you still can but I paid a one off price some years ago so don't pay an annual subscription

There are two options you can pay the yearly subscription for Microsoft 360 which I believe covers multiple divides and gives you access to extra storage / tech support etc .
I paid about £45 one off for the Microsoft office programmes - word , excel, publisher etc on just my laptop and it suits me fine . It’s horses for courses really.

Is Google docs etc an option?

DeltaAlphaDelta · 20/02/2022 08:35

If you have an outlook or hotmail account i think you can use the free version. I tend to use google docs, sheets etc which are all compatible with microsoft, although they don't seem to have some of the more complex functions if you need those.

Thank you! I actually bought two computers, one for each of our teenagers, about two years ago, bought them a few months apart. I have now had TWO payments of £80 out of the Bank so I need to speak to Curry’s and check what’s happening 🤨 Thanks again for responses

That happened to us.
The yearly subscription payment kicks in- but you might only need one of them if you have a package for multiple devices.
I have had one cancelled and refunded before.
Contact Microsoft I think.
Good luck!

I paid for it when I bought my laptop. When DS needed a new laptop and he wasn't able to transfer his existing free package from his old laptop, I just upgraded my package (by logging in to existing MS account) to a multi user account. You shouldn't be paying for 2 separate individual packages. Think I paid £99 (pro rata for part year) which gave ability to share with 4 additional users.

I'm looking at this too. it seems really expensive if you just want Word and Excel, for one person/computer!

If I could find it for £45, that would be great, but it seems more like £100 as a one-off payment, or something less as an ongoing thing.

I don't even care if it's an old version of the programs, as long as they can read and save the same formats. I was using the 2009 version til a month ago when I had to upgrade and none of the 32-bit versions worked any longer.

the subscription sounds like a good idea if you have more than one computer or always want the latest versions, though.
