I need ideas of something to do with my 13 year old this half term

He asked to go to the trampoline park. I said yes and now it's fully booked, which has never happened before. Older son is going on a school residential and am taking younger (primary aged) dc to soft play which 13 year old would enjoy but isn't allowed in. I feel really bad that I'm not taking him out anywhere. Swimming is fully booked as well. All my suggestions have been met with a shrug or a no. In the interest of not drip feeding he has asd so can't go out on his own/with friends.

Make sure you book for another time and how about just a week of being spoiled with movies, trips to a cafe etc. Are you sure he can't get into the soft play? Can oyu take them to a different one another day instead? Is there anywhere you can go to play eg pool (as in snooker), basketball or tennis?

Cinema
Ice skating
Starbucks

That's frustrating OP. Perhaps check with other leisure centres in the area that do swim sessions.

I have a 12 year old DS with ASD and he is very particular about he wants to do. Our half term was this week and the weather has been awful and had to cancel our trip to the farm. We went to a trampoline type park too which was fully booked for the day. Ended up at a softplay place for younger DC and 12 year old was happy to play football in the designated area. He looks quite young for his age so nobody questioned it and I doubt they'd have cared if he was a little older. He's also been to eat at a restaurant of his choice and went to watch a film with me. Batman, Unchartered and some others are on at the moment so your DS could pick what he fancies watching with you. We're going to a Science museum tomorrow and possibly some shopping for a particular thing he's currently obsessed with.

Bowling? Any arcades nearby? Go and choose a new game or jigsaw and do it together? That sounds really naff and proper Mumsnet but we bloody love them on rainy days and we all get involved. Charity shops usually have loads with all the pieces. We do them and send them back or pass them on.

Most soft plays go up to age 11, I’ve been looking at them today and every one I’ve seen has an age limit of 11.

You are not alone op I tried to book things this half term and couldn’t book anything. Literally everything is fully booked. I wanted to take mine to the museum but fully booked. Its because of Covid most places not allowing walk ins anymore and only accepting pre booked, the museum I take my lot to use to allow you to just pay on the day but now you can’t enter unless you have booked in advance.

Go karting? Mini golf? Driving range? Escape room?

Rainbowqueeen · 20/02/2022 02:02

Movies?
Can you plan sone things at home he would enjoy that involve going to the shops first eg mocktail making, cooking, jigsaw,Lego?

Do the places you have tried have cancellation lists?

Could you borrow a dog and take it for a walk?

Where about a are you op? We have just had half term (and many areas have) so you may be able to book somewhere else?

Ninja warrior course
Laser quest
Inflatable park
Local funfair if there’s one appearing for half term
Water park
Go karting
High ropes course
Snow centre (ski, sledge)
Trampolining lesson/ parkour lesson
Ice skating
Bowling
Cinema
Climbing wall
Horse riding
VR centre
Theme park
If you drive, trampoline park somewhere who had half term last week (Manchester, Sheffield and more!)

Jump on a train and go explore a city you've never been.. Literally just go to the station and pick a destination on the board? On the train, google what's there and make a plan while eating snacks / hot chocolate.

Download a treasure Trails treasure hunt after picking a random train (or car) destination.
We did that this week and had lunch out too.

I have a 12 year old with ASD and we have alot of cinema trips planned. Encanto (again) Spiderman (again again). But other than that alot of home chilling and gaming as he has found school really tough this year. I am also trying to get into some baking with him.

This is a great suggestion. All ages seem to enjoy them
