If you have bouts of clear outs *TMI warning*

What causes it?
What helps to alleviate the symptoms?
How often do they happen?

I used to get them at least once a month several years ago and then they suddenly stopped. Now I’ve have had 3 lots in 6 months and wondering why

Opened this thinking it was about decluttering Confused.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 19/02/2022 08:51

Me too. Was expecting a warning about chucking something and then really wishing you hadn’t 3 months later.

anothersmahedmug · 19/02/2022 08:52

Diet or hormone related ?

Have you become intolerant of fatty foods? Or lactose?
If you've had an infection/virus and your stomach fauna have been depleted that can also cause upset stomachs.

Im2022 · 19/02/2022 08:55

I also thought this was about decluttering and old underwear or sex toys 🤣🤣

Soubriquet · 19/02/2022 08:57

I didn’t know a nicer way to phrase it Grin

Thought the TMI would be enough. Apparently not

No diet changes. Same diet as normal. No real change at all tbh

I do and it's due to diverticulitis. Had a bout last Saturday and I'm still recovering, on antibiotics. It's fucking horrible.

inheritancetrack · 19/02/2022 09:10

Is it IBs

SprayedWithDettol · 19/02/2022 09:16

Ibs. I have it. It is triggered by stress for me and bloody horrid.

HaveringWavering · 19/02/2022 09:19

What do you mean- are you talking about diarrhoea?

HaveringWavering · 19/02/2022 09:21

Surely if you have problematic digestive symptoms you need to see the GP?

HaveringWavering · 19/02/2022 09:22

Nobody’s answer on here is going to rule out a serious illness. Changes in bowel habits can indicate all sorts of conditions. Do not ignore or attempt to self-diagnose.

Bunnymummy2 · 19/02/2022 09:23

I know what you mean, I have it too. Had it earlier in the week and put it down to too much fruit one day. Miserable.
Can't have been the wine, could it? 🤔

Maflingo · 19/02/2022 09:27

Ibs maybe, or could be period related? That usually clears me out once a month!

Migrainesbythedozen · 19/02/2022 09:39

Could you actually speak in clear English and tell us what on earth you are talking about? I've thought on this for a few minutes and still don't know what you are talking about.

Soubriquet · 19/02/2022 09:44

Explosive diarrhoea yes.

It’s so painful I have to hold a towel against my stomach and rock.

Sometimes I get so hot I sweat buckets

Bless ya trying to be polite 😃 yes I get like this I have a bowel condition a bit like colitis . Go to your gp it can be investigated.

Mrsjayy · 19/02/2022 09:49

Oh I didn't answer your question, I have bouts of diarrhea maybe 6 times a year.

KitKattaktik · 19/02/2022 09:51

See your gp.

Mabelface · 19/02/2022 11:12

OP, that's how my diverticulitis manifests itself. Like a fucking tsunami of shit. I was so hot and sweaty, I had to strip off and lie down in the empty bath. I felt so ill! Drink lots of water and take some electrolytes when you have an episode. Speak to your gp too. I usually have fresh blood being passed once the tsunami has started to ease and can be hospitalised. Just avoided it this time and the antibiotics in on have messed my stomach up and given me a fanny that feels like it's been doused in napalm.

Bagelsandbrie · 19/02/2022 11:16

I take it you’ve seen your Gp about this? Had a FIT stool test and blood tests to check for inflammation? I’m just saying this because it’s really important to make sure this is ibs rather than anything else from Crohn’s to cancer.

I have terrible ibs like this. The only things that help me are probiotics - I take 2 x Biokault every day and a live yoghurt drink. Seems to help a bit. And when I have a flare I take Cocodamol 30/500 to calm it down as the Codeine slows the bowel down (my GP is happy to prescribe this for me as I only use literally 1 tablet maybe 2/3 times a week for this reason).

Soubriquet · 19/02/2022 12:32

I saw a GP once when it was happening frequently. He just shrugged and ignored everything so I haven’t bothered since.

May have go try again
