Any builders/decorators know what this smell is?

The flat down stairs is being renovated
My flat has been full of a strong chemical sweet catch in your throat smell for around 24 hours
I’m worried the workmen are using something cheap or horrible
( I suspect it’s the landlord doing everything on the cheap, from past experience-he’s not MY landlord)
I’ve contacted my factor to ask them to open THIER windows , as I’m having to open mine and it’s snowing with a small DC in the house.
Help put my mind at ease?

Help, should we go out in the snow or are we ok? Sad

Is there someone there to knock and ask?

DownWhichOfLate · 18/02/2022 13:09

Can you go and ask them? It doesn’t sound ideal. Can you decamp to a friend or to family?

@CorrBlimeyGG I’d asked the Factor but they didn’t even know there was work going on
@DownWhichOfLate no I’ve pets and a small baby so it’s not terribly practical to go elsewhere
I just ended up opening all the windows even though it was about 2 degrees and snowing.

what exact works are going on?

MRS54321 · 18/02/2022 20:38

@GirlInACountrySong I imagine a thorough strip out. The previous occupants destroyed it.
Considering who the last tenants were , I’m not convinced the landlords doing things by the book
I wouldn’t be shocked if they were using something they shouldn’t be
