Where would you like to live?

If you don’t like where you’re living now, where would you ideally like to be? In the UK.
Or if you love where you live, why?
My friend has moved recently and she seems like a different person . She’s not been happy where she was living previously for many years.
It’s made me think about how environment makes such a difference.

I live in Nottingham but not sure if it’s because of the area - which I do like and is safe with lots of families, or the fact that I like my job, my house, have lots of friends nearby… I grew up down south and ended up staying here because of house prices being ridiculous ‘back home’ and have settled. I think surrounding yourself with the right people makes a bigger difference than location. Having said that I appreciate cost makes a difference to what you can afford and feeling safe is vital?

I live on the West Wales coast ,
I was born here.
Its such a nice place to live, small villages throughout the county with our nearest town 20mins away - and that's small too really.
We live in the not so ' tourist' bit ,so thats nice too in the peak seasons.
We have about 8 beaches within a 10 min drive, nearest is a 4min drive and we are surrounded by fields- It really is perfect.
I did move away for 10 years - Nice area on the Welsh border just no beaches near by!
I honestly would'nt want to live anywhere else

I live in Rutland. I love it. I imagine people would say similar about me since I moved here. I feel like this is where I was meant to be. I love my village, and knowing everyone and everyone knowing me. Community is very important to me. Previously, I have lived in big cities and felt lost and anonymous. I also hate noise. It is so peaceful here. I will never leave.

I always used to think location didn’t matter. And then we moved to my husbands childhood hometown, and I’ve been miserable for the last 3 years. Something about it just doesn’t ‘click’, I don’t feel at home here and I swear it’s been a major component to the depression I’ve found myself experiencing. My best friend lives in the place I want to move back to (we lived there 15 years ago); driving there to visit gives me that ‘I’m home, these are my streets’ feeling. We are hoping to move there in the next 12 - 18 months!

I would like to live where I live now, but the way it was 60 years ago, before more and more too-large-for-here housing estates had been plonked here, without thought for the whole area, and all adorned with lots of unnecessary outside lights, harming wildlife. Failing that, I would like to move within a 30 mile radius to a part which isn't designated as a development area, so that I could feel that I was truly living in the country again. Could I also change the abode a little, with unlimited money for some outhouses and an owl box etc. etc.

We are going to move when we retire in a few years. A lot depends on where our 3 adult children settle but I'd love to move to Snowdonia, West Coast of Scotland or rural Lancashire/Cumbria.
Bizarrely, City Centre Liverpool is also on the list as there's just so much to do there, it's the city we went to uni and met in, and it's just so friendly.

I'm in Birmingham, but I'd like to be in either Cambridge (if in the city) or Devon (if rural, and possibly not today!!).
Sadly I can afford neither.

I like where I live now (Brighton)

But if we get priced out I'd like to live in Lancing or Shoreham.

Somewhere not too rainy or windy. A house with lots of woodland (10 acres?) so our dogs could run around. I'd love a big, rambling home but within an hour of London. This place probably exists but it'd cost millions and millions!
