Just wondering?
Long narrow Victorian terrace.
Where would be the safest place to shelter? Under the stairs?
Do you call insurance straight away?

It can't be worse than the storm of 87. I remember that really well, our trees were fine although the French windows blew in and half the garden including rose bushes landed up in the dining room. Wales and the South West are going to bear the brunt of it I think unfortunately for them.

There's not a huge amount you can do other than making sure there's nothing in the garden that could damage other things if blown around.

I wonder sometimes about loft conversion flats. There's several in my road. Don't know what the people living in, what is pretty much the roof by the looks of the cheaply done conversions, can do. I suppose the only option, if they can afford it, is go to a hotel or family or friends the night before.

Based on earthquake safety the best places to shelter from debris/falling objects are under a table (dining room, could put mattresses around?!) and also within door frames as they are the strong parts of a house.
