Any cures for vertigo?

Okay so I've seen posts about migraine and tension headaches so I'm giving this a go in case anyone has any miracle cures. Vertigo- started recently with 2 bad days stuck in bed with it, caused by turning my head to the right while in bed. Haven't been laying on the right since, but I do it accidentally sometimes and it makes everything spin. The past few days I just feel like I'm on a boat all day every day. A general practice nurse gave me some tables for travel sickness but I'm not convinced they're working. Also told to do the Eply manoever, I've given up on it as I didn't seem to feel any different when I did it.
Anyone have any other advice? Should I keep going with the Eply?

When I've had vertigo I've seen a go and been given various meds. Stemetil, betaferon and propranolol (not all at the same time, I used to get it a lot). I would see a doctor and get some different meds. Hope you get some relief soon

Thanks, I did call for a gp appointment and they gave me one with the practice nurse instead who gave me those promethazine tablets. She said there's no cure for it it will just get better in time. I just wondered if there was anything else to try after the epley manoever to help it along

If the dizzyness comes after moving your head it’s more likely to be BPPV than labrynthitis, which just seems to make you randomly dizzy when doing nothing (I’ve had both).

If you have BPPV (which is what it sounds like) then I’ve found the Eply manoeuvres do fix it, but you have to do them properly and regularly. Suddenly it’s better. Worked for me both times.

I found epley performed on me by a practitioner much more effective than me trying to follow diagrams and a you tube video.
Any physio clinics in your area? Look and see if they offer epley.

I've had 2 acute attacks, a year apart. Woke up one morning and room spinning. Couldn't stand up. Had to crawl to the bathroom.
111 sent a prescription for stemetil to local chemist. Didn't work at the time, fell asleep at 1.30 a.m. still bad, but next day had miraculously disappeared.
Second time, took stemetil immediately and it worked.
Have only had phone consult with GP. Told to come back as a priority if I started having them more frequently or stemetil stopped working.
My guess is it could be vestibular migraines. No headache. But similar in the way I woke up with it, acutely disabling, disappeared after sleep. Also possibly connected to dehydration? Craving for fizzy sweets the previous days. Too lazy to go and get a proper drink from kitchen.

Thankyou! Few things to try here, I'll drink more water for a start, I'll keep on with the epley if it might help. If no joy after both of these things I'll call gp again and I'll ask to speak to a Dr this time even if just a phone appointment

You can get "vertigon" over the counter, I found that to give some relief.

I felt mine was stress related too.
Coffee made it worse.

Stay calm and hydrated.

My husband suffers with this from time to time and was advised to try anti histamines

Cinnarizine is the best I've found helps when stemetil no longer did.

Stress is known to bring on vertigo, so cut as much out as possible. I did and haven't had any for 4 years now.

I had this a few months ago and it was HORRIBLE. I couldn’t see for spinning and I couldn’t stop vomiting. I ended up having to get a rehydration drip in hospital. I got diagnosed with labyrinthitis and got meds from the drs which helped then I got info from someone that travel sickness tablets (anti histamine) help and they really made a difference for me. I took them non stop for several days then occasionally for a few more times when it seemed to flare up again. I got a covid booster during recovery and it seemed to make it worse again. Anyway, I’m about 7-8 weeks down the line and I’m about 90% recovered. I still get slightly dizzy, especially if I’m watching a film and they do spinning stuff or wobbly stuff with the camera. Good luck. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

Here’s the meds I took which really helped (over the counter so no dr needed) medinachemistnetherfield.co.uk/product/stugeron-travel-sickness-tablets/
