Shit shit shit! I’ve just turned a beloved jumper into a felt lump!

It was a lovely Seasalt knit - 80% wool to 20% nylon. Soft and snuggly and perfect. Washed overnight at 30 degrees as usual. I’ve just retrieved it and it’s now a doll-sized square. Sob.
Is there anything I can do to rescue it? Tugging at it is having no effect.

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER Oh no! That’s even worse if you made it yourself!

@Nearly50TotallyKnackered I'd do as @SiobhanSharpe suggests & set up a dedicated search with updates to keep you informed on eBay. I'd also join the FB group & put a call out - people often trade bits on if they have something specific that people are after.

Good luck 🙂

@grownup2 I’d never heard of Eucalan - it sounds like great stuff! Will get some to try to prevent further knitwear tragedies.

Sad jumper (after as much yanking as humanly possible)

It will be a goner Sad. Put it down to experience I'm afraid. You could definitely make something from the felted fabric. I made a tea cosy from a similar accident.

This happened to a work colleague. She put it into a bucket of cold water and a whole bottle of cheap conditioner. Left it there for a week, stretching it out daily. It worked!

Make a hat out of it.

@BackwardsPrawn

No way back. I did the same with my own favourite Seasalt jumper.

I still mourn it...

I've done it with a seasalt jumper/tunic. I was heartbroken. Have another one I hardly dare to wear it's in the wardrobe practically unworn.

But Dodgy all the seasalt stories

@HeresMyName1

We had similar with a brand new £140 cardigan ! I gave it to a 3 year old who it fits and know your disappointment!
I have fond memories of wearing one of my dads jumpers as a 4 year old after mum shrunk it Grin
