Am I as a fast approaching 40 year old with a teenager and a pre teen and their associated sports and a dog got a hope in hell of being able to learn and pass the exams via distance learning only?

I'm really not keen on classroom learning due to the commitments of the above and obviously work as well but its a long time since I had to learn things and pass exams am I setting myself up for a fail here?

Do you mean AAT or ATT? I am just starting the ATT and then CTA exams and recently started work as a tax adviser for one of the big firms after years not working. I’m mid 40s with a 7yr old and 15 yr old. It is hard work and will get tougher I know. It will be worth it in the end though. Good luck

Good luck! I breezed through school, university and the ACA but found CTA fiendishly difficult.

OP I'd say if you've got a good memory and can set aside time regularly to study then you should be fine. Especially if you're working in a field where you're using the stuff you're learning?

Not meaning to put you off Norma if it came across that way. It was incredibly difficult but also so interesting and I loved working in tax, I can't wait until I can go back to it (I stopped when I moved countries and had kids).

Thank you Kinsters! I am loving it so far. Got my first tax study days today and tomorrow. Had some accounting ones already in preparation for the accounting paper. Hope you get back to it soon

Thanks for the replies, I mean ATT. I work in admin in am accountancy firm and I've been offered the opportunity to do this. I guess I'm worried I've lost the ability to learn new things as I feel like I havent used my brain properly for a long time.
