Currently living life so very stressed. Feeling major mum guilt for everything I do and don't do. Tonight my 4 year old was scared and upset about something (nothing terrible I promise) and my 2 year old gave her a cuddle and said 'it's ok, I've got you'. Made my heart melt. He must have heard us say this so we must be doing something right. Anything similar happening to you?

My 4 year old told me he loves being a big brother so he can help teach his sister how to grow up to be a kind and clever kid. Which is adorable to me.

Sometimes my daughter comes up and hugs me for no reason and says "I'm glad I chose you"

She first said it when she was about two or three and I asked how she chose me and she explained seeing me from high up and just thinking she wanted me for her mum because she loved me when she saw me.

My DD is at such a wonderful age at the moment, everything is “mummy” for her and she gets real pleasure just from saying mummy in my direction. It’s an absolute joy to hear.

Plus she’s singing, running, jumping, just being hilarious. It really makes me feel right the world just to spend some time with her

These are amazing, I asked Ds1 who is coming up 6 what his favourite thing was at the moment (trying to get ideas for his birthday) and his response was 'Ds2 is my favourite thing in the world' (ds2 is 20 months)

Makes me feel like we are doing something right somewhere!

On Monday my 3.5yr old son said out of the blue "Mummy, you're so beautiful ... and such a good cook". 😍

Thurlow · 16/02/2022 15:51

My 5yo got all confused in the middle of the night the other day, he'd been moved to a spare bed because he'd wet his, couldn't really remember where he should be sleeping when he woke up at 3am and so ended up creeping into our bed. As he snuggled down between us, he whispered - "You're the kindest people in my life".

Honestly. Nearly died.

I dropped my phone the other day and shattered the screen. Lovely dd (nearly 3) had this conversation with me:

"Okay mummy?"

"Yes mummy's ok, I'm just annoyed because I've broken my phone."

"Need new phone mummy."

"No, I'll use this one."

"New?"

"No, I don't have the money to get a new one right now."

She toddled off and came back with two chocolate coins.

"Money for new." They make your heart swell down they.

*don't they

DS (age 10) last night after an autistic meltdown said "mummy, I think you must have had a Dylan before, cos you know exactly how to look after them." (name changed) Made me nearly cry - I feel so helpless sometimes when he gets so distressed, and his gorgeous, funny way of telling me I'm doing the right things was awesome to hear ♥️

Fuuuuuckit · 16/02/2022 16:35

My mum died suddenly on Sunday. I'm a 'deal with everything now, fall apart later' person and I spent Sunday night snuggling my kids and comforting them. Before we all went to bed my 15yo dd dug out her oldest, favourite Teddy that's been hiding safely in the top of her wardrobe for many years. 'Here mum, doggy will look after you just like you've looked after us tonight. He's very good with tears too, when you're ready'.

Doggy is still on my pillow, for when that time comes.

GoGoPowerScooter · 16/02/2022 17:34

That's beautiful, fuuuuuckit. So sorry about your mum Flowers

Bloodybridget · 16/02/2022 17:41

Oh @Fuuuuuckit I am sorry about your mum. What a lovely DD you have.

SomeLikeItTepid · 16/02/2022 17:58

@Fuuuuuckit I'm so sorry for your sudden loss. You are obviously a fantastic Mum who can still put her own children first in times of real trauma.

This thread has me in tears. Such lovely uplifting snippets that we probably all need from time to time.

Madbadandusuallysad · 16/02/2022 18:12

The 3 year old had a very high temp and was utterly sad with it so put her in our bed. DD8 wasn't quite asleep in her own room so she wondered into our room and sat up in bed cuddling her little sister... no words spoken between them but just a picture of love and comfort.

When my 4 month old girl wakes up in the morning and I look into her cot and say "good morning!" I am greeted with a huge excited gummy grin, and it brightens my day every day. Sometimes if I wake up before her I lie in bed looking forward to my good morning smile Smile

TheVolturi · 16/02/2022 21:31

Eldest is 9 and has Asd. He isn't very tactile or affectionate, but he will randomly come to me for a very stiff sort of cuddle, it's rare, but when he does its like he never wants to let go. It always brightens my day and makes me smile.

TheVolturi · 16/02/2022 21:34

And this thread has me in tears!

DD (6) comes in to my bed every night. It's just like an instinct, she wakes up and toddles straight over.
Last night she came in, snuggled right in to me, took a deep sniff and said 'ah my mummy, I love you.' in her half asleep daze and I almost cried.

Another; I was really, really unwell recently (bedridden for 4 days) and my dad had to come and stay to help me look after her.
One morning, he got her up and ready for school and told her to come and say goodbye before they were leaving.
She crept in (trying her best not to wake me) with her teddy and blanket, tucked them up next to me and kissed me on the cheek and forehead, then whispered 'I'm going to school mummy, I love you, see you later, I hope you feel better.'
I had no energy but had to scoop her up in to the biggest cuddle for that.

She makes my heart swell every day. God, I love that child so much - it actually hurts.

INeedtobealone · 16/02/2022 21:39

Just over a year ago it snowed and my then 4 year old, who had never really seen proper snow before loved it. He's also got a fairly significant speech and language delay and goes to a specialist provision.

He hugged me and said ' Mummy, I love you in the snow'.

My 5 year old is non verbal, but sometimes he'll grab my hand and pull me away into another room, cos he just wants him & mummy time! Or if we are lying in bed, he will grab my face and just gaze at it and smile
I adore this kid!!!;

changenametimeagain · 16/02/2022 22:45

I get random I love yous quite often, along with "you're my best friend!"

Tonight she annoyed me by getting some cupcake decorations out the pantry (after I told her not to) and she then said "mummy, be happy. I'm going to make you happy with this dance" and proceeded to do a little jig while shaking both jars Grin
