My screen was pinned on Teams. AIBU to find it creepy?

The screen share stopped and the person took ages to fuff around with the buttons. Unfortunately everybody can see that this person has pinned my screen so that it stay focused and big on the screen even though I wasn’t talking/ my initial is not one of the first alphabets.

I have no idea why I was feeling so humiliated (probably because I was stuffing my face with croissant. It was not a pretty sight I can assure you). This person has always been awkward around me but not the sort that you can cracked jokes with.

AIBU to feel a bit creep out around this person?

Definitely the norm at my workplace to have a biscuit and cuppa while listening to the session. We were told specifically to relax and snack just mute the microphone.

I was aghast when I saw myself on the presenter’s screen. However it is also not the time and place to ask question.

Just a shame that everybody would have noticed that as it was actually a very interesting slide share. My eyes were glued to the slides and I have no doubt others too.

@bumblingbovine49

For goodness sake, they probably pinned you by mistake and as they were doing the presentation , they didn't have time to work out how to sort it out .

I am always astonished at how many people in life jump to assuming the absolute worst intentions in people . Unless you have reason to believe this person wanted to upset you I'd assume it was a mistake. , Surely life is less stressful if you don't immediately jump to negative conclusions with no real evidence of intentions

Look if I was looking my gorgeous self, I would have say pin me away! In fact spotlight me!

However for this instance I wasn’t so I guess I was speculating the presenter’s intention as we do not really talk in RL.

If it's the norm and accepted to eat whilst you're in meetings then why would he be doing it to shame/embarrass you?

MargotMoon · 15/02/2022 22:06

@Jovanka

I don’t know anyone who sits eating with their camera on, unless it’s some prearranged lunch thing.

How is that relevant?

EarringsandLipstick · 15/02/2022 22:06

Why would you think it's 'creepy' though? Of all things to assume?

I think having a cuppa and a snack (like a biscuit) is ok. Eating a croissant & drinking cocoa with your camera on just seems v strange.

TokyoTen · 15/02/2022 22:07

You're over thinking. Don't eat with camera or sound on.

LittleWins · 15/02/2022 22:14

@Jovanka

Not really the point is it?

Um, well, except it wouldn’t have been possible to highlight the OP eating if, you know, she had kept her camera off.

Your assumption is a male colleague pinned her because she was eating? Even if true why does that make it the OPs fault?

We all have cups of tea and biscuits on the go and have for the two years since WFH. Glad to work in an environment where no one gives two hoots.

Lightstoobright · 15/02/2022 22:18

Is there a chance that he fancies you?

StrongerOrWeaker · 15/02/2022 22:22

Is this person good with technology? I have done all sorts of things on virtual calls that I never meant to do!

ouch321 · 15/02/2022 22:28

I think it's weird that people are so thrown by the croissant.

You must all work at terribly formal places.

Same. Really surprised by the anti croissant comments. In my opinion it is much better than biscuit.

I'm sure it was by accident, not croissant shaming. They sound delicious though, perfect with a bit of apricot jam!

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 15/02/2022 22:41

Snacking, stuffing, munching, lunching Envy not envy

Mls1984btc · 15/02/2022 22:41

@LittleWins thanks for capturing the gist I was trying and failing to convey in my replies.

He is such a creep I will be prim and proper tomorrow for the meet. No chance of a laugh!

Delicious! Yum!

I like mine with almonds flakes too. When you soak the last bit with hot cocoa, oh my god pure heaven!

Why are you troughing croissants!

Somebodylikeyew · 15/02/2022 22:58

If I didn’t eat in Teams meetings I wouldn’t eat most days! Totally depends on your workplace but its fine in mine, as long as you’re not aggressively crunching monster munch or deep throating a banana.

The pinning thing is weird. Hopefully just an accident but yeah, I’d feel weird too.

I just really want a croissant now.

I wonder if he felt embarrassed by it. So peculiar.

This. I could easily do something like this by accident and think it’s quite the leap to assume intent and need to analyse it. Everyone seems more twitchy in the virtual world for some reason. I’d forget about it OP.
Oldmrswasherwoman · 15/02/2022 23:29

Are you sure everyone else could see and you were pinned by them? I have accidentally clicked on something and made the slides very small and my own face massive before on Teams but only on my own screen viewable by me, it wasn't the presenter who did that.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 15/02/2022 23:31

I've put spotlight on someone by accident before, I wouldn't read too much into it
