Security camera that records

Does anyone have a home security camera that records so you can watch the footage back? I’m looking at getting one but none of them seem to say that you can record and review footage - don’t know if I’m being thick! Bonus points if it isn’t super expensive, it can be an indoor one. Thanks so much if anyone can help!

We have a netatmo security light/camera and a ring doorbell. Netatmo don't charge to record but with Ring you need to pay a yearly subscription.

Ring keeps 24hrs for free.
I've paid £26 a year to keep the footage for a month.

I've got a Blink camera from amazon. It's motion sensored and records footage for as long as you need (the longer the faster the battery goes obviously). Bonus you can also talk through it from wherever you are so I can ask delivery people to leave items where I want while I'm at work and I can see where they leave things too

Thank you so much everyone for your suggestions! @SliceOfCakeCupOfTea can you watch back the footage from the Blink camera?

I've a Blink XT2 camera set up too. It keeps all the clips for you to review and the video and sound quality is really good. Mine has free recording storage however, since I bought mine, I believe Amazon now have a small fee per month for the new customers. If I were to buy another, I'd get a slightly older one from eBay to avoid that.
It's Lithium battery powered (so no wires.) but even in height traffic areas the battery life is not that bad. In low traffic areas with little motion setting it off, it can last up to two years.

Two way audio means you can talk to whoever's at your door and motion sensing means battery and video storage saving, plus you don't have to trawl through hours of recordings to find an event. Just pick up your phone and there the footage is, in the Blink app.

Yeah, I can see all the stored footage on my phone. I only have it set to record for 10 seconds from detecting motion but you can extend that.

PP says that there are not fees attached to this though which I wasn't aware of. I've had mine for about 3 years now I think.

Thank you @cctvrec! I was looking at the Blink Mini as I have a power socket in my hall where I was going to put it, I just need to make sure I can record and play the recording back.

I've got blink too but am thinking g of changing one of the cameras and just keeping the door one because it only records the motions clips. I want one of them to record all the time.

I have aTapo indoor cam and it records when movement is detected

marqueses · 15/02/2022 16:15

Do you mean a proper security system rather than something like a ring doorbell?

I thought that recording is the purpose of those systems, don't they all record?

MadisonMontgomery · 15/02/2022 17:58

@marqueses that’s what I thought initially, that they would all record - but I’m not sure that they do! I don’t know if I’m being really stupid but it seems like a lot of them you can watch live feed and get movement notifications, but not record and watch back later if that makes sense?
