Why am I shivering with cold?

I have the heating on, 2 jumpers, extra socks a scarf and a hat and I've just jogged on the spot for 10 minutes and run up and down the stairs a few times to try to warm up. I've had 2 cups of tea in the last hour.

My body temperature is normal (I've checked with 2 thermometers). Covid test clear - only 3 weeks since I had the thing anyway so be miffed to get it again so soon. The house is 17 degrees which is as hot as I usually like it.

The only warm part of me is my hands which are usually cold Confused

Yet I'm juddering with cold - my teeth are chattering and I feel awful and have a headache.

Any ideas because I am at a loss?

Maybe you have just got a bit cold. Have you tried having a hot shower and some soup or something warm to really warm you up? And a hot water bottle. Then, if you still feel cold, you are probably coming down with something.

Lolly49 · 15/02/2022 13:14

Sadly I think it’s the aftermath of Covid not too bad when I had it but since I tested negative seem to new symptoms every day.

Your house sounds cold to me

Possibility of low iron? Getting cold, not being able to warm up Is usually the first sign my iron is low.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 15/02/2022 13:27

I get like this when I'm really tired and the only solution for me is bed. I've tried hot baths but then the cold returns double fold when I get out

Iggly · 15/02/2022 13:29

Hot water bottle? Your house also seems cold.

Maybe you’re still a bit poorly.

wineymummy · 15/02/2022 13:30

Pregnant?

notangelinajolie · 15/02/2022 13:32

Hot bath.

AchillesPoirot · 15/02/2022 13:33

You could be coming down with something.

Can you get a hot water bottle? Go for a sleep?

listsandbudgets · 15/02/2022 13:34

@wineymummy

Pregnant?
I sincerely hope not!

You haven't eaten enough? I always find it really hard to warm up if I haven't.

Lightning020 · 15/02/2022 13:36

A mug of Slim A Soup is what I do when extra cold. I also take Floradix about twice a year if I feel I need added iron.

listsandbudgets · 15/02/2022 13:39

OK so put heating up to 20, heat up some soup, put on my electric blanket have a hot bath and get into bed for an hour. If that does not help I'll get some iron supplements and take a pregnancy test.. gulp

I'm surprised people think 17 is cold but I've been known to turn it down to 15 some days because we are all warm enough. Normally I just don't feel the cold.

Fitbit shows my pulse has just shot up from normal 62 to 86 in last 20 minutes or so (that could be the prospect of pregnancy!!!) . Still no temperature Confused

I had this a lot after I had Covid and once I got cold it took hours to warm up.

Theunamedcat · 15/02/2022 13:43

Your still ill

RoyKentsChestHair · 15/02/2022 13:46

I had covid back in Jan and still feel shivery, achey, sniffly etc - a bit flu like - several weeks later. Probably that. Brew

Trinxsy · 15/02/2022 13:46

I woke up like this today OP and it's absolutely rotten. I'm toasty and warm but I'm shaking like a leaf and I keep getting strange waves wash over me every now and then. Not sure if it's nausea or what Confused

BoyGirlDogCatMouseCheez · 15/02/2022 13:46

A bit left field, but I discovered cold flashes can be just as much a part of perimenopause as hot ones. For me it took hrt to realise they were part of it, but I used to feel so utterly chilled to the bone and nothing would warm me until it passed. Very much the opposite of hot flushes.

Pixiedust1234 · 15/02/2022 16:22

When i am like you I find i need a "thick" drink eg cupasoup or hot chocolate rather than a thin, watery one like a tea or coffee.

illyawasthebest · 15/02/2022 16:36

High pulse and being cold - get your iron tested!

Duntelchaig · 15/02/2022 18:02

Brandy.

romany4 · 15/02/2022 18:23

How old.are you?
I'm in peri menopause and like this. So much for hot flushes. I'm permanently frozen.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 15/02/2022 18:30

17 is too low if you are indoors all day. If you went out for a walk (wrapped up) and then came back in, you would shake off the chill.

If I am working from home I need the heat on at least 19, and warm clothing.

illyawasthebest · 15/02/2022 19:37

17 is fine for me, and OP says it's normally fine for her too. So it's more likely to be some kind of bug or problem.

Lightning020 · 16/02/2022 17:46

My house is very well insulated and I never need to go beyond 16 degrees. If I had mine on over that I would simply boil. I feel the cold too.
