Ok very boring question but as a non british I still feel I am unsure of what is the right thing to do sometimes. And this is one of them.

ds has a girlfriend has has been invited to spend half term with his gf and family (parents and siblings).

He is supposed to bring something as a thank you right? Is a bottle of wine (for the parents!) OK?

Avoid alcohol unless he is absolutely certain they drink it. If they do a bottle of wine and some choccies, if not some flowers and choccies.

Flowers is going to be an issue as they leaving for the week. I don't think they'll want to carry on bunch of flowers where they go. And if they don't they won't actually enjoy it.

Chocs a good idea though.

I’d send a big thing of nice chocolate biscuits (M+S do nice ones!). He can say ‘my mum sent these for you to say thank you.

Thanks for the reminder of M&S.

And yes nice biscuits would be good too and would mean everyone can enjoy them when they are away.
