How to protect Sharpie on porcelain

Any ideas on how to coat a sharpie design on porcelain so that it doesn't rub off?

I tried nail varnish top coat and rust-oleum crystal clear protective coat, but both cause the sharpie to run.

Anyone have any bright ideas?!

Why are you writing on it ( part nosy part trying to help 😄)
Could you use coloured nail varnish instead to write with ?

I don't know why I feel embarrassed to say but I'm just mucking around by doodling some designs on old crockery.

I want to use sharpies for the fine lines but I'm finding they come away quite easily!

The plates would be decorative, not actually used!

Try acrylic pens, then you bake the porcelain at a low temperature for an hour to fix it.

There's nothing at all embarrassing about doodling on plates Smile.

If it's doodle fun how about things like glitter pens and then super glue to seal it

Try Posca pens instead

Check out baking it , I'm sure I read somewhere that if you doodle on mugs you bake them and it's pretty permanent 😁

You are all amazing thank you! Lots of brilliant ideas to try out!

@fridacakehole
How is the doodling going ?

fridacakehole · 20/02/2022 22:44

Hey @NewYearCalavicci! It's going well. I've tried hodge podge but the colours fades a little.

Next I will try baking!
