Bright coloured clothes for older dc that don't cost a fortune

My youngest is 7.5 and just going into 8-9 clothes. Went through the box of hand me downs and I need to buy new trousers as older brother wore out the knees. All the usual places like asda, Sainsburys and Tesco have lovely brightly coloured jogging bottoms for younger dc but they stop at age 5, 6 or 7. Everything in 8-9 is either black, navy or grey. Trawled through eBay and unless I want to pay £20 for a 2nd hand pair of organic Scandinavian brand trousers or t-shirt then everything is pretty much the same. Found a few bargain t-shirts from boden but no trousers unless I want sludge colours. So annoying.

Boys or girls?

Try Next. I got some amazingly bright stuff for girls today, and there was some in the boys section amongst the sludge...

H&M usually have lots of colours and aren’t expensive!

Zara usually has some bright stuff

H&M, Lindex or try second hand on Vinted or Depop (generally cheaper than eBay) .

DinosApple · 14/02/2022 17:15

H&M usually have bright options to around 10. Not so much variety after that though.

Lands End

Their stuff is pretty good quality and they often have good sales too

My DD will only wear bright clothes so I mainly shop in Next and H&M. She is only in age 6 clothes but the ranges I buy from usually fit up to age 12/13.

I was in Next the other day and they had some really gorgeous things in.

Try fruit of the loom on amazon, cheap, long lasting and every colour you could want.

FrangipanFlower · 14/02/2022 17:23

Join Facebook groups where people sell second hand scandi/boden clothes. No one is selling trousers for anything like £20 a pair, much cheaper

Not sure about trousers, but Mountain Warehouse is good for tshirts/jumpers. I recently bought some lovely bright fleece jumpers for DS in size 8-9 and they were only a few pounds each.

Thankyou. I've got some lovely bits from h and m now.

Dunnes stores have great value for this age

chickentikkawhatswrong · 19/02/2022 23:26

I like next and H&M, also EBay for Boden things.

Mountain warehouse is always worth going into. I’ve got my DS some polo tops and shirts there in lovely colours and patterns, always seems to have reduced bits as well.

The outdoors shops are good for alternatives to sludge and franchaises like Minecraft.
