How do you get a bag less supermarket delivery?

How do you get the stuff into your house if it's all loose? Haven't had a delivery for years.

I just have bags by the front door and I unload the crates into the bags. It doesn't take long, some delivery drivers help, others just wait but they never seem bothered by it.

I stopped having shopping delivered when bags stopped being acceptable and especially when I watched a programme on the dubious hygiene of shopping delivery crates. The crates are never washed. Maybe they have stricter hygiene measures now but it was enough to make me stop having deliveries.

I use my washing basket, doesn’t take long at all.

@Qwill

I put everything in a blue ikea bag at the door. Takes seconds. When I had my hands full with the baby, the delivery driver brought the crates in and unpacked them on the kitchen table for me - was very much appreciated!
Ikea bags used here too ... super quick

IKEA bags at the front door and then I can drag them to the kitchen.

milkysmum · 13/02/2022 19:42

I just grab things from the crate and put them down just inside the porch or on kitchen table- depends how quick I'm feeling and if I can rope the kids into help. The delivery guy just waits and takes the empty crates back to the van as you empty each.

Carry the crate in, dump the large items such as washing powder near the door, take fridge stuff there, rest in the kitchen.

Drunkpanda · 13/02/2022 20:21

How long it takes obviously depends on whether you spent £50 or £150!

SartresSoul · 13/02/2022 20:29

Have big ikea bags at the door and just throw the stuff in those.

MrsPsmalls · 13/02/2022 20:37

I say 'Sorry, I can't carry those' Because I can't and ask them to put the crates on the work surface where I unload than. I definitely wouldn't be able to get down as low as the doorstep to unload them into IKEA bags. If they didn't carry them through I would have to reject the lot, but they are always really helpful.

So much better they way Ocado deliver with items in different bags eg for freezer, groceries etc. and help by bringing them into your kitchen for you, why don't Sainsbury's do this?
