Cotton/bedding aficionados! Help me replace lovely bed sheet?

Please!

I’ve had two attempts so far at replacing DP’s loveliest bed sheet. It’s at least 9 years old and was only retired when it ripped. It is silky smooth and on close examination there’s NO fraying! No bobbling, not a fibre out of place, just cool and smooth. It’s defo from M&S and says cotton on the label. Which is a plain label, doesn’t say autograph, but I don’t know how old Autograph is.

I purchased a 400 thread count sateen cotton sheet, and it’s not even close.

The original sheet is defo M&S but the product code no longer exists. Any guesses or recommendations what the magical mystical fibre is before I dive in and spend £75 on the 750 thread that M&S do? I’m sure I’d read that anything over about 400 thread count is just a gimmick! So I wonder if there’s a special weave or type of cotton?

Previous Google rabbit holes saw me purchase some silly number count sheet from an independent that I was so disappointed with I returned it Sad

Sorry I can't help with sourcing your original bedsheet.
I purchased a new bedsheet in ASDA the other day, not where I would usually buy bedding but i was there abs I needed it to tide us over!
Well what a surprise, smooth as silk and lovely and cool, no bobbling and I'm quite fussy as I do have the odd habit of rubbing the tops of my feet on the sheets!!!!! 🙈
Also has elastic the whole way round the edge of the fitted sheet so when OH dances in the night it stays firmly in place!

I was there most expensive one but was under £20 and I believe it is 300 thread count but I can get off my bum and double check on the sheet if you needed!!!

John Lewis, they do 1000 thread count.

Or the white company.

They get silkier with use.
My smoothest sheets are all Egyptian cotton. They’re nicer with every wash Smile

Grin I’m lucky to not have a night dancing DP

I’m in Asda sometimes, I might buy a single and test it out on the DCs!

I haven’t even dared to look at white company sheets. Eek. Might peruse after a wine tonight for bravery.

White company are worth it, though.

I guarantee you will not find anything in Asda....!

I second the reason his are silky soft is because of the age

The ultimate softness occurs just before they go threadbare Grin

Grin maybe you’re right raver! I was really loving them just before they ripped, which wasn’t through any event… they just gave out Blush

I always buy 100% cotton percale, never bobbles, ages well. But getting harder to find.
