Which of these is closest to tikka masala in taste- Rogan Josh, Balti or Jalfrezi?

Just trying to expand the curries we eat at home and worried that one fussy eater won't like them.
She likes tikka masala and korma.
The three listed are available in the spice paste jars we use for tikka masala and korma so would like to try another.
TIA

I'd go with balti but it depends on what the curries you usually get are like in comparison. There's a lot of variation between recipes. In general jal farezi is fairly spicy.

3 of us would try any of them but our daughter only ever eats korma or tikka masala.

Well the common component of korma and tikka masala is a creamy, rich base.

I’d rule out Jalfrezi which is fiery

Balti can be many things but it’s not creamy

Rogan Josh is rich and tomato based. I’d try that but add lots of yohurt or even a little cream.

Curry for multiple tastes is easily overcome with a fab book called ‘the curry secret’ where you make the base sauce (as a restaurant does) then add some other components to make it korma/dhansak/madras etc. the base sauce is a pain but you make it once and it’s done. You can freeze into many portions. Worth a look when your pastes are used up.

Butter chicken might fit the bill? Or the spice tailor does a brilliant coconut Kerman curry kit.

Are you talking about bought currys or different recipes.
I make a really creamy curry from the cooking with mummyji book that is amazing.

WeeWeeMe · 12/02/2022 22:24

I was actually talking about using Pataks spice paste jars as we already use the tikka masala from that range.

Do half and half tikka masala and balti.

Thanks @titchy
That's a good suggestion.
