I have been given a yogurt maker and looking forward to making yogurt with very little sugar. I know that Lakeland sell additives to give taste but does anyone know a cheaper way, please?

Compote or low sugar jam?

Good thinking!

This is how my mum used to do it (hoping photo has attached!). You basically need live yogurt and milk.

Yes, jam or blend up fruit and stir through. Honey? Not really sure what other options there'd be. I have a heirloom culture but only use the yoghurt to make scones or naan bread Grin

FluWorldOrder An Heirloom culture sounds very grand!! Did it originate from Tiffany do you think?! Thank you. If it can be used in cooking I think I need to do some research.

I blend tinned peaches and put it with shop bought Greek yoghurt. No
Sugar needed but I do add honey as it soo go!

There is Lots of naturally occurring fruit sugar though so depends on whether you want to avoid sugar for a specific dietry reason or just overall health.

Some of the low sugar jams and marmalades have lots of artificial sweeteners in and a bit horrible but not all of them - they are not all equal!

Also frozen forest fruit either cooked fruit or just Defrosted but can be a bit seedy so I would cook (microwave) and pass through a plastic sieve.

Other frozen fruits too! I soo a batch and it's lasts all week in a screw top container in the fridge.

Thank you all for the ideas. I have been making Kefir and adding it to my morning smoothie and now I can go one better! I am diabetic and trying to remove as much sugar as possible from my diet.
