I am no longer allowed to access my dd online medical records.

Yesterday I had a phone call from someone from out GP surgery.
The lady said she wasn’t sure if I was aware but there is a new law which states when a child is over the age of 11 (dd is 13) the parent is no longer entitled to access their online medical records or discuss any details with the surgery without their child’s consent.
She said she was ringing all parents of children over 11 to let them know.
I said I was totally unaware and did that mean that say, when the other week I rang to get the results of dd’s recent blood test results (she’s a bit anaemic) the surgery wouldn’t give me the details. She said that’s correct, I would either need written consent from dd, or she calls herself or she would need to be sitting with me and give verbal consent.
DD is obviously happy to give consent and this doesn’t particularly worry me but I hadn’t heard this and can’t find much online.

You are allowed. Your title is misleading. You are allowed proxy access. You are her parent. She lives with you, right? You have her consent to access her online records. It's all good.
I think this law is not a bad thing. When I was an NHS admin, one of the things that used to bother me (this is many moons ago) is when a parent who'd hardly been in a child's life was suddenly looking for access and was usually hostile towards the resident parent. They would rock on up to the surgery requesting access to the child's records (fishing around for anything that might reflect poorly on the resident parent).

This new law prevents people from misusing their child's records.

That sounds bonkers. My 11 year-old ds would have no interest in his medical records or want to phone up to get test results.

I had a similiar thing when I called 111 for poorly DS. He is 11. The lady on the phone wanted to speak to him for him to give consent for me to discuss his health and also for medical records.

Just get them to call the doctor and say 'I give permission for you to talk to my mum regarding any medical information. Please can this be added to my record'

I had this. My son just told them it was okay.
