Nice places to eat in Cambridge?

I'm off to Cambridge this weekend, so would love some suggestions on where to go for dinner. We like all different types of cuisine. Ideally not too pricey, and fairly central.
Thanks!

I love the market place for lunch (bang in the centre, close to King's), lots of stables with affordable interesting food. Some really good burgers, 'steak & honour', or porchetta from 'bread and meat' nearby. Take it away and find a spot to sit. Can't miss Jack's Gelato for ice cream after. Nice Indian, Chinese, Arabic, Korean food on Mill Road, Regent Street. Some decent quality chains in City centre.

Dinner at The Pint Shop is always good.

Bill’s has a bit of everything and isn’t too expensive

We ate at a lovely place called The Oak Bistro. Family run, really lovely staff, the food was fabulous. Mid range prices.

The Anchor pub by the river

The Bicycle Shop on Regent St.
Luk Thai at the Cricketers near Parker's Piece.
Tawa Kitchen for Indian near the station

sorry, The Old Bicycle Shop
(really nice food for dinner but also good brunch).

Another vote for The oak Bistro really lovely place great food and super friendly.

Loads of food stalls in the market place with great international food, haven't been disappointed yet.

Oak Bistro is lovely - you may need to book.

Also Pint Shop and Cambridge Chop House. Jack's Gelato is great and usually has a queue.

Give the Ivy and Bill's a miss, you can find them everywhere and they are style over substance.

Sticks 'n Sushi is expensive but delicious. I would also strongly recommend Smokeworks, there are two branches in Cambridge. It's basically amazing BBQ, to die for and the music is great. Stalls on the market also highly recommended.

The take away food stalls are mainly on Sundays in the market, I think, although there may be some on Saturdays.
There are lots of chain restaurants on Regent Street, GBK, Nandos etc but also Nana Mexico and several non-chain Asian ones (Korean, Japanese as well as Chinese). Also Wagamamas.
The other street where there are quite a few is behind the Corn Exchange, i think it's Bene't street (whereJack's Gelato and Bread and Meat are situated)
If you want somewhere casual but very good and very reasonable I can recommend the Yippee Noodle bar on King Street. It's way, way better than Wagamama.

Restaurant 22 (Chesterton Rd.) - need to book b/c very small
Thirsty - off/on license with food vans on Chesterton Rd.
Fitzbillie's - Trumpington St. or Bridge St.
Cambridge Wine Merchants - off/on license with small plates
The copper kettle is a traditional breakfast place opp King's
Fudge Kitchen - also opposite King's, good for snacks
Cambridge Brew House - King St.
as mentioned above
The Pint Shop - love the scotch egg
Chop House

SiobhanSharpe · 13/02/2022 01:08

Restaurant 22 is extremely good -- and also extremely expensive...
(Mind you, not as expensive as Midsummer House which is stratospheric these days. Has two Michelin stars, though. )

We ate at The Senate a couple of weeks back and really enjoyed the quality of the food.
