WTF moments you had in the school playground

You know, when parents chat to you in the playground. Usually about inoffensive stuff.

One thing that sticks in my mind is when one of my older DD’s was in year 1, a dad was telling me about how his other dd in reception was constantly in trouble for kicking and punching other kids. But clearly the reason she was doing it, he said was that she’s incredibly intelligent. 😬 he sounded proud about it! I personally never connected violence with intelligence.

I think she did grow out of it but this father was an utter dick. He was trying so hard to win the parents race on sports day.🤣

I think it's a thing when children are pre-verbal - bright kids can get frustrated if they are ahead of their peers and can't express their frustrations verbally.

I don't think that's what this was, though - sports day is a giveaway Grin

Not in the playground but at a class party.

Got chatting to a very cute dad (ex husband of someone I quite got on with), I'd wondered for a while why the mum had divorced him, as mentioned he was easy on the eye. But then I got stuck in a 20 minute conversation about party bags. The perils and joys. Ye gads he was dull. I was so glad to escape. And so understanding of the divorce.

Pretty sure I've held up my end as a horribly boring school mum btw, just remember struggling not to laugh at this one. He was probably bored too and just couldn't figure a way out.

Not me, but a friend was once chatting to another mum during the summer term. This woman told my friend she’d been sunbathing all day, then showed her a naked picture as evidence. My friend SCREAMED.

Unsolicited oversharing! One one of the dads telling me and another mum about his recent vasectomy, but adding the delightful detail that he still uses condoms as "Sarah" can't be bothered to go and clean herself up afterwards 🤮

My favourite was the mum who showed me her Amazon order of baby helmets for her boy who had just started walking. In fairness she was lovely but I had to walk away to not laugh uncontrollably.

A grandmother at a baby group I was at made a big public complaint that they had a sensory tray of lentils out and they would be a choking risk.

A mum had had her boobs done. Lifted her top to show us all how she could now go bra-less

I have to say they did look good

A mum once told me she wouldn't send her primary aged child to a gay friendly school.

Big argument outside school because a selfish woman had parked on the zigzags and drop kerb where the kids cross. A couple of the parents banged on her window to tell her to move. She was refusing to move her car because it was raising and she was wearing flip flops and didn’t want to get her feet wet.

School mum told me that she doesn't go on foreign holidays because they can't/won't speak English

Mine was when a mum told me she'd been to Belgium to get a boob job and asked if I'd be interested!! I wasn't, but she clearly thought I should.
