Bank work

Does anybody here do bank work, particularly in the care sector (adult and children social care) for local authority? I know it will be different for everyone but I'm debating taking it on around a college course and was wondering how often you get an offer of work? I know it will different for everyone I would just like to hear some experiences of it.

I am a nurse and do additional bank work, mainly to keep clinical skills up to date (I am a Manager now).
I think it helps to get to know one or 2 teams and then you have a better chance of arranging shifts in advance with them rather than last minute. I do bank work for a couple of different teams and know the staff, the routines and am offered shifts a week or two in advance.
Bank work can be really flexible - I can't answer how much work you might be offered but in principal I could probably work 3-4 shifts every week in the teams that regularly book me.

Thank you so much for replying Quidity, I'm just wondering whether it's worth the plunge (looking to do 2 long shifts a week) seems like it's probably worth keeping up with the job I'm in and trying to build up relationships in the bank organisation to hopefully get offered more work? I know no one can answer that I'm just thinking out loud really!

I imagine a lot of the shifts that come up are weekends/unsociable hours? I'm up for this anyway as would have husband at home for the kids!
