Would you eat this Feta?

I bought some reduced Feta from Waitrose a few weeks before Christmas and forgot about it.

On the cardboard cover it says use by 22.12.21 but on the plastic cover on the cheese it says best before 23.06.22. I'm thinking that the date on the plastic is the correct one and the date on the cardboard incorrect so it should be fine to eat.

Which date would you go with?

I'd assume the date on the plastic was correct, but even if it was the date on the cardboard I'd have no issues eating it if it looked and smelt OK.

Feta always has a long date as long as it's unopened. I'd go with the inside date

Feta is about 90% salt so it won't go off until August 28th 2029 at 20.45 Wink

Oooh I love feta and that's reminded me that I have some in the fridge.

I mean, cheese has basically already gone rotten; what more can happen to it? I'd totally eat it, unless it tasted weird.

I once found some feta at the back of the fridge that was about 8 months out of date.

It looked ok through the pack, so I opened it, and it was absolutely fine.

I ate it with no ill effects whatsoever.

So yes, even if the date on that is last December, I'd eat it without a second thought.

More importantly, do you have mint and pomegranate as that is a match made in heaven.

Or beetroot.

Mmmnnn - quite fancy some baked feta now! I would definitely eat it, baked with some olive oil herbs and peppers!

Thanks all. I've no pomegranate or beetroot but I have 2 of them so I'll get some for the second one.
