Food ideas for no fridge, only hot water

I'm having a c section Monday, luckily I will have my own room and DH can stay with me. Unfortunately if he leaves the room he can't come back.

Obviously I'm fine as I'll be given food but I'm looking for ideas for DH that don't need a fridge/cooking. We can have hot water and a cool bag though.

I'm thinking pot noddles ect but anyone have any slightly better ideas? Thanks!

Oh god I hated hospital food. Whatever you take, take double so you can both eat food from home. I have no idea how they make simple things like bread, yogurt, porridge taste so bad

I had private room, dh had to leave after birth and wasn’t allowed back in. 2 days later I was starving. Def didn’t take enough ‘food’

Apple juice cartons ( even the water was horrible)
Cashews
Mini pretzels
Oat bars
Own water bottle ( instead of a cup that fits a thimble of liquid)
Herbal tea ( and I would take my own twinnings breakfast in future)
Shortbread

@Clymene

Why doesn't he come up with his own ideas? Confused
What an absolutely bizarre comment, do You never help your partner solve problems?

I had a similar situation when I gave birth last year. Don't worry OP, it's perfectly ok to have this conversation with your DH, it's just part of getting organised between you! Wink

Although in the end DH was allowed out, and got himself a Burger King. And before anyone demands to know why he didn't get me one, I was provided for by the hospital.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. We will definitely have plenty of ideas now. Loads of obvious things we hadn't thought of. The maternity department have a Facebook page that they update daily and the rules definitely are... no leaving the room/access to hot water only/cafe closed.

I gave birth in the same hospital in 2020 and the food is surprisingly good! I will be bringing plenty of snacks for myself though.

Honestly the first page of replies I got on here are bizarre. Do you honestly not discuss things like this with your DPS? Was his cool bag supposed to be filled with secret food that I wasn't allowed to know about beforehand?

I think to be on mumsnet now you need to never support your partner and let them work out everything themselves, you may as well LTB OP 🤣

Meanwhile in the real world you could take some pasta pot things and porridge pots (dd had these on DofE).

Good luck!

Cous cous sachets. Take some seeds and dried fruit to mix in.
Mugshots
Tinned fruit with ringpull.

Peanut butter and Oat cakes
Nuts
Super noodle
Cereal - uht milk sachets
Oats and honey
Long life Fruit pots
Cereal bars
Tuna style lunches (John west I think does some)
Ainslee Harriot cous cous pouches
Cereal bars
Long life dips - Dorito salsa etc and nachos
Individual drinks/cans of drink

Is there no kitchen on the ward/unit? Sometimes there’s access to make toast/store stuff in fridge which would extend options
