After 4 months 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️, ds17’s provisional license has arrived.

What have you paid for driving lessons?

He’s paying half as he’s earning a fortune working at Starbucks 😂

Iv just joined a instructor waiting list. £65 for 2 hours. Only posted my provisional off 3 weeks ago. Think it will be months before I get it back 😞

gogohm · 07/02/2022 22:19

I paid £22 12 years ago

KateTheEighth · 07/02/2022 22:20

£35 an hour here

One two hour lesson every week

Hope he passes soon... Confused

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 07/02/2022 22:24

£25 ph pre COVID, now £27ph. One passed, one has his test booked, youngest starts this year

daisypond · 07/02/2022 22:25

£30 an hour. We didn’t have a car for dd to practise in, so all lessons were done through driving school. We paid. We have not dared count it up.

Clockbookbeast · 07/02/2022 22:28

It's £25 a week here, 10% discount for blocks of 10 booked.

dalmatianmad · 07/02/2022 22:31

My youngest passed last week, 1st attempt. His were £25 an hour (midlands)

BlackAndPinkNose · 07/02/2022 22:34

£30 an hour. I paid for 10 lessons; provisional licence; theory test and practical test for 17th birthday - the rest were their responsibility.

Whatisthepointinthis · 07/02/2022 22:34

£300 for 10 x 1 hour

Mooloolabababy · 07/02/2022 22:41

Have you managed to book lessons for him op? Dd is 17 soon but we're waiting for her passport to come through before we can apply for her provisional. Had a very brief look in to lessons but everyone is booked up at the mo where we live!

Littlefish · 07/02/2022 23:16

@Mooloolabababy don't use your dd's passport to apply online for a provisional licence. There is a fault (which the DVLA is aware of) which means that new passports can't be used as the passport office doesn't hold a copy of the applicant's signature.

I ended up involving my MP after 3 months, and 108 phone calls to the DVLA (none of which was answered).

In the end, I had to start again from the beginning with a paper application.

It's intensely infuriating. I wrote to Grant Shapps too as he's the Transport Secretary. In his l return letter to me, he made it clear that the DVLA know about the fault, but aren't going to put a warning on the website about it. Fuckers. Not fit for purpose at all.

FoxyBadger · 07/02/2022 23:20

£28 per hour. DS passed first time last week. Had to wait 3 months from getting licence last June for first available theory test then booked practical test in October with first availability late January. So, a long process and probably more lessons than he would otherwise have needed but he was ready and well prepared.

Good to know, thank you!

RoseDog · 08/02/2022 16:55

I ordered Ds last week online with his passport and it took 4 days to get here, he has an old style passport though, we had to get him to sign a plain piece of paper and take a picture of it!

Lessons cost £27 I think, dd pays for her own and we will give Ds money for his birthday and he will use that then pay his own.

toomuchlaundry · 08/02/2022 17:02

We did a paper application for DS and it only took a few weeks. All instructors are booked up at the moment though

Wotrewelookinat · 08/02/2022 18:49

£30 per hour here near Ipswich, DD had 1.5hr lessons once a week.

CurlyMango · 08/02/2022 20:43

£33 per hour, and two hour lessons, so £66 each per week. I’ve twins…..

JuergenSchwarzwald · 08/02/2022 21:18

My son's lessons were £40 for 90 minutes.

Can't he just tell them to get off their bottoms and do it? Not much good being Transport Secretary if you can't tell people to do stuff...
