Is it mad to consider going to Australia for Easter?

We have Australian passports but I’m worried about how quickly things change in Australia - a family member got stuck interstate in Australia after getting covid and it was a huge inconvenience and at great cost. I really want to visit family but I think I would just be on edge the whole time. Anyone did it recently?

Sorry I’m so guilty of forgetting that there are differences between the states here!
In NSW masks are stopping at the end of the month. Yes, you do have to isolate for 7 days if you catch it - I actually can’t see them dropping that requirement any time soon, even people in your house have to isolate.
What’s the state of play in the U.K.? We’re coming over in July and I assume most/all restrictions will be lifted by then?

Yep that's why as per op we think it would be silly to travel to Oz soon unless got money to come again next uear/ok to isolate for a week! If people have koney to that's great but it's too much of a risk for us.

England wise - no masks required by law but many still wearing by choice. No likit to eating (no longer a "rule of 6"). Pretty much all dropped as far as relates to my everyday living. No check ins and less need to prebook. I've been to theatre and cinema etc.

However our isolation is longer at 10 days if you catch it (a few lucky people test negative for 2 days and can escape a few days earlier. Didn't happen here!) Also contacts dont have to isolate but tests daily (rats are free and everywhere here. ) if living together it could well spread though+

There's Talk of reducing isolation with covid end march.

I think it's too soon, flights are still very restricted and often get cancelled. You would need twice as much time and money as a back up.

Sorry middle of the night typos 🤦🏼‍♀️. And so many of them...

Ozgirl75 · 08/02/2022 07:08

Thanks @DaisyTheUnicorn I’m guessing by July there won’t be any isolation at all.

I would assume that to be the case yes as things are going! 🤞 for no new variants.
