First aid certificate. Does this count?

A member of my staff completed first aid training with some paramedics (waiting for certificate). Can they be our certified first aider or do they need to have done it with the company?

What level of training have they completed?

Ohdoleavemealone · 06/02/2022 21:57

I'm not sure yet I am waiting to bring in the certificate. I've heard previously that it has to be completed within the company so wouldn't count as I didn't pay for it and send him for our benefit.
Wondered if that was true or if, as long as it is the right course, he can do first aid for us?

If the content of the course is acceptable, then most places will accept training paid by someone else.

I don't mind them having got it else where aS long as it brings no issues if someone is hurt and pursues us for compensation.

It depends on your workplace. Are you an office or a manufacturing facility with lots of moving machinery for example?

You need to know what your needs are: www.hse.gov.uk/firstaid/needs-assessment.htm

Then you can work out what training is required for your work place. All training must be given by a competent person.

Depends on your workplace, and specifically on your insurance. If your insurers are happy to accept it then that’s fine. But many insurers still want a named package such as First Aid At Work.

It doesn’t matter who pays for the first aid training.
