South/South West coast path - anyone walking it this year?

I really want to do it this year, or at least make a good start. Have done some sections of South and just a little of SW but can't find anyone to do it. Most companies have self-guided options or group holidays but want u to find own accommodation.

Anyone up for it? Or done it - and how?
Or can suggest where to look for a group walking which includes accommodation?

I would prefer linear rather than circular walks.

I meant I can't find anyone to do it with as self-guided walks.

I could do days/weekends or a week at a time, not all in one go.

Are you planning on doing it alone? So are you just looking for travelling companions?

Kendodd · 06/02/2022 19:17

And from where to where?

Couldn't do it alone for safety and I guess social reasons. So either with someone with similar interest or a walking holiday based together.

Most of SW coast really, apparently best to walk west to east (with the prevailing wind), maybe county by county.

I would also consider Suffolk and Norfolk paths.

I walk the SW coast path alone often, it's not unsafe.

@Kendodd, I am thinking for safety in case of getting lost or a freak accident.

Do u walk in any particular area or walking it all in sections?

My DP did a huge stretch of it a few years ago and wild camped most of it with a stay in a b&b/hostel every few days. It’s REALLY busy so if something happened someone would probably be able to help you very quickly.

Look up the local Love Her Wild group. You may find there are other willing people up for the adventure.

I think HF hotels do guided walking holidays.

macs adventures do it with accommodation

I did 80 miles of it in three days last May with a group of friends and our dogs, although I ended up doing the last 10 miles of it alone (the group split because of injury, I stayed with slowest walker but she had to pull out at Weymouth and I was determined to finish!) we stayed in b&bs and organised it all ourselves, and we met loads of people doing it alone - I felt perfectly safe doing the last bit by myself, there’s always people around. I’ve also walked the whole of the South Downs Way and met lots of people (mainly women actually!) doing that one alone as well. I hope you find a way of doing it that works for you, it’s beautiful Smile

Oooh, thank you all for the info and inspiration 🙂 will check out the companies suggested. HF are doing Dorset stretch which I am planning to go on.

@WorryMcGee, I have done Thames path, South Downs and started North Downs with a friend and 2 cars and loved every moment. Also doing south coast with groups or friends whenever I can but finding it hard to find someone for a longer trip away as I am near London. And I feel I want to do it sooner rather than later!
